Why not Dhoni as Coach and Harbhajan/ZL for Bowling coach. That way all coaching duties rest with the 15 man team..

I dont think Mo' is coach material to be honest, in today's cricket. Although, personally speaking, it would be great if he's appointed coach for the WI tour. I might just get to watch the games in Trinidad from the player's pavilion if that happens :winky:

Amazed to see people all excited about Jimmy getting the job, what sort of coaching credentials does he have that make him such a perfect fit? The last I heard, he was annoyed when he was asked to make a powerpoint presentation for the interview in 2005, not to say that you need PPT to be a coach, but you need to be tech savvy and progressive in todays times. I'd much rather go for Rajput or Sandeep Patil in the interim.

MS Dhoni & Co will fly off to the West Indies on May 28 to play five One-Day Internationals and three Test matches immediately after the IPL. The BCCI, thus, has little time on hand to finalise a proper replacement for Kirsten. Though there is no confirmation on who will fill in Kirsten’s big shoes, there are few names doing rounds in the BCCI corridors. Due to lack of time, a board official revealed that former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath would be asked to accompany the team as a stop-gap arrangement. There is also a possibility that the current bowling coach Eric Simons will be retained. For the long term, however, the BCCI is said to be interested in bringing current England coach Andy Flower on board. But the former Zimbabwe captain’s contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) runs till 2012. Fletcher on radar Another Zimbabwean who is on the board radar is Duncan Fletcher, who now operates purely as a consultant following his seven-year stint with the England team. “It will take a few days to zero in on someone as there are lot of opinions and counter opinions right at the moment,†a top BCCI official said. The BCCI, it is believed, want Flower to make the first move as poaching him would only harm their relations with the ECB. “We have a good relationship with the ECB and we don’t want to spoil that, but if he is interested, we will surely consider him for the job. Hopefully Jimmy paaji can help some of our younger players tighten their technique against short pitch bowling. Interesting to hear the name of Andy Flower as a long term option. Flower is a strict disciplinarian and doesn't believe in the "star system". Not sure if any of our senior players made this recommendation.

Oh no.. not Amarnath.. He was most brilliant batsmen against fast bowlers.. Especially short pitch stuff but he would be useless as a coach in current times.. Last time he applied to be a coach for India, one of the reporters asked him if he would be using modern technology. Mohinders reply was.." sorry I can't use laptops, I only have lap not a laptop, All this modern technology is no use to train cricketers".. What a stupid answer.. This would be like going back in time.

It probably won't happen but I'm hoping for Ravi Shastri to be considered. I think he was interim coach before and the guy understands Indian Cricket and all of the players on the radar.

Not only he understands all the players.. He also has a brilliant cricketing brain.. He would be a damn good coach for this Indian team.
