Where would you put this final run chase in Indian ODI history? top of my memory. I would put it right at the top 1) 2011, world cup final run chase vs SL at Mumbai http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/433606.html DHONI - MOM 2) 2002, Natwest run chase at Lords vs England http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/66292.html KAIF - MOM 3) 1997, Independend cup at Dhaka vs Pakistan http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/66136.html GANGULY - MOM 4) 2003, world cup at Centurion vs Pakistan http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65268.html TENDULKAR - MOM 5) 1996, Titan cup at Bangalore vs Australia http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/66061.html TENDULKAR - MOM

Here are a few more candidates... 1. Q/F chase against Aussies on a tough pitch to bat on, and Yuvi & Raina batted amazingly to get us over the line. 2. India chasing 293 against Pak in 2003-04 (the one where we won both odis & tests) in Lahore. I believe it was the 4th odi and India were 90/4 when Dravid in company of Yuvraj and later Kaif got us home. Then we won the next game to clinch the series. Definitely one of the better chases I have seen  3. India beating Pak in Pak where Yuvraj and Dhoni got together when 100 odd were needed to win in around 12 or so overs. This was in 2005-06 when we beat Pak 4-1 in odis in Pak  4. Another one against Pak which goes way back to 97-98. This was the one where Rajesh Chauhan won us the game in the last over by hitting Saqlain for a 6!!! This is the only reason I remember Chauhan just like Kanitkar is remembered for that 4 against Saqlain  5. Chase against NZ where Pathan scored a century - we were about to lose and Pathan wins the game from nowhere.

Independence cup run chase was a landmark run chase for India. First time INdia chased a total in excess of 300 successfully. On second thoughts that has to be the 2nd best chase above natwest run chase.

Natwest chase/win has got to be the most overrated by Indian fans. The entire series was full of mediocre cricket and to see such an ordinary tournament being elevated time after time is pretty funny.

Gotta agree. it became famous because it happened in England.

for the last recognised pair and a tailender who can bat a bit to chase 175 runs at 7 per over is no mean feat.does not happen 99% of the time.

To me, the Independance cup in B'desh takes the cake. Then, chasing 315 was completely uncharted territory. Nobody believed such a thing could be possible, until it actually happened.

But we're talking about run chase in one particular match, not the whole tournament. The tournament might have been full of mediocre cricket but the final was something special and a chase like it does'nt happen everyday.

I remember England served absolute dross towards the end.

The Indepence cup in bangladesh was special.I never thought we would chase that.Kanitkar shot and last over from Saqulain asr still fresh in memery. Other great chase missed out on this thread: CB series final in 2008.Chasing and winning a final in Australia against Aus is very special and that too with a sachin Century makes it even more special.

That's like lighting your own ass on fire, jumping into the river, and congratulating yourself on a job well done by putting it out. India should have never got into that position in the first place against such a mediocre ODI side. There are easily 10 more challenging chases by India in ODIs than Natwest.

That is precisely the reason why this chase is special - its not often when a team, after lighting its ass so badly, manages to jump into the river and put it out.

India chasing 325 against England in the Natwest Finals has to be the most memorable Indian chase , remember it was the highest Run-chase at that time and the moment Sachin got out India looked completely out of contest but incredible batting by two youngsters plus some late minute drama made sure we created history that day . Its the Number 1 Indian chase ever.
