Sir john Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped twice at different parts of the city in south Delhi over the span of 24 hours. The incident was reported late on Friday and four men have been arrested. According to the complaint filed by the victim, she was first raped by her 42-year-old relative in Vasant Kunj area and then raped again by a stranger. The victim claimed that when she had managed to escape from her relative's clutches, and had hailed a cab in desperation around 11pm, she was again raped by the taxi driver and his two associates. "She has claimed that she was first raped by her brother's father-in-law — Hanuman Mishra — at his Rangpuri residence. She had gone there to look after Mishra's ailing wife. She somehow managed to escape late at night and hailed a taxi on NH-8, near Radisson Hotel. She claimed that she narrated her tale to the taxi driver, Bijender (22), who promised her a lift," said a senior police officer. He added: "Instead of helping her, he took advantage of her vulnerable state: he picked up two other men — Vinod (28) and Parveen (27) — on they way and they allegedly raped her in the moving car. After that, the two men got down and Bijender drove her to Dwarka sector 19 to drop her off. It was then that a passerby noticed it and made a PCR call around 4.05am. A PCR van sprung into action and managed to apprehend Bijender on the spot." The other three accused, including Mishra, were also arrested. The girl was taken for medical examination where **** was confirmed, said cops. Deputy commissioner of police (south) H G S Dhaliwal told Times City: "We have managed to arrest all the four accused in less than 24 hours of the incident. Special teams were constituted when this matter was reported, leading to the arrests." Mishra works with a catering company at the Delhi airport, while Vinod is a loader there; Parveen is unemployed. Bijender, Vinod and Parveen are residents of Barona village in Sonepat, said cops. The victim is reportedly a student of class 10 and a resident of Faridabad. Her brother had recently married Mishra's daughter. I think we also need a campaign to make people aware about consequences. Put 2-3 rapists serving jail time on tv. Let these idiots know what can happen to them if they commit this crime.

Every day or two must be the reality of Delhi, i don't know about the unreported ones. Its a real shame that reflects the culture & lawlessness of the capital.
ViruRulez Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Two things have to be sorted out in terms of crime and **** related crime in Delhi. Delhi Police is highly corrupt and if anybody things they are saint and though this case seems clear but they might also frame people at cases to make them look good. So, I would not say that Delhi Police is doing any awesome work to be frank though in this case it looks quite good. But what needs to be not only in Delhi but India as a whole is that a strict law should be enforced for matters related to ****. At first there should be either death sentence or castration for ****. But at the same time, it should be made sure that it is actually **** and not sex with consent as an innocent can be easily framed in such as law as is the case with dowry law. But the big question is that how will one find if there was consent in the sex or not. That is the biggest hurdle I suppose in providing the right judgment. If simply death penalty or extreme punishment is brought without finding out ways to check the validity of the allegations then also it would be a big problem. Especially modern girls looking for 2 minutes of fame might frame any well-to-do guy for fame and money like it happens in many dowry cases nowadays. But if a strict law is not passed then we might see more such cases. So, need to find all the holes and plug them and form a proper law to implement.

ganeshran Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 All metro police has ample staff, what they dont have is the will or the technical competency to prevent such incidents.. Too many incidents go unpunished to deter criminals from carrying out such heinous acts. Rather than going for some barbaric forms of punishment, we should look for constitutional punishments which are enforced more effectively

It has never been proven that capital punishment decreases future crime rate, though it saves taxpayer money on prisons etc. It is the strict enforcing of the punishment which deters crime. Our system has numerous holes in it which needs to be plugged. If thats done, automatically crime rate will go down
