Ramzz
Yea, Steyn is intelligent in choosing spells where he needs control and where he needs pace. His bowling strategy to SRT in the test series was just awesome...but it was SRT so the strategy was countered in no time :) Bowling 4 over spells is not a good judge of fitness. I hope he plays in some matches where his fitness is tested while still clocking 140+ at the end of the day.
rkt.india
For some reason, the IPL always seems to bring out the quickest in Ishant. I remember during IPL 1, he was matching Umar Gul inch for inch, when playing for KKR. Ishant is certainly capable of bowling the occasional nippy spell. For but the zillionth time, lets make one thing ABSOLUTELY clear – He is not a 90 mph bowler. He does not fall in the category of Johnson, Tait, Lee, Nannes, Roach, Steyn, Morkel, Malinga, Gul etc. He is at most effective, when he is averaging 85-87 mph (remember that spell against Ponting in 2008?), with the odd ball over 90 mph. The problem happened, when his average speed dropped alarming to the early 80s, at one point during late 2009 and early 2010. Its not the first time, he bowled 150s. In Adelaide test Australia and he clean bowled Hayden with 147K reverse swinging delivery. He consistently bowled 145 in CB series and in IPL 1 after. He was in great rhythm at that time. That one year till the start of WI tour after IPL2 he used to hit 140+ consistently. But in cricket small things matter most, He tried to change his action a little bit to get outswinger going that lead to his downfall. He lost his rhythm in run up, lost his wrist position and used to fall to left side, lost his alignment while delivering the ball and didn't recovery after that for nearly 2 years. But now after this break of 2-3 months have proved boon for him. I think he worked with coach, watched his old bowling videos where he bowled well and corrected all his errors. He is bowling pretty well. Though, in T20 anyone can be hit or smashed, but the way he is generating the pace is awesome. He outpaced Styen yesterday who's fastest delivery was 150.8 in 20th over. He bowled 152.4kph. Some say those were speed gun errors, but he was consistently hitting high 140s to low 150s and was beating the batsmen with pace and other bowlers like Zak, Van Dar Vath, etc were clocked at their normal pace. Roshanrocks
Whats the use of this speed when the bloke doesnt bowl yorkers nor bouncers. He knows only one length to bowl and thats short of good length.
rkt.india
Even Gony hit 140s a few times and got the ball to move. The pitch though had some good bounce and encouraged some bowling. Hopefully Deccan mamangement ensure this type f a pitch for rest of the matches too helping Ishant to continue his good rhythm. Ishant bowling quick (140+) in good rhythm, getting the ball to bounce off good length and do something off the pitch will make our test attack that much more potent. Gony can bowl in 140s too. He has bowled 140s in previous IPLs as well, but his action is like he cannot keep it consistent and his line and length has been problem for him. This pitch was bouncy and he got superb bounce with his height and high arm action.
rkt.india
Whats the use of this speed when the bloke doesnt bowl yorkers nor bouncers. He knows only one length to bowl and thats short of good length. He can bowl bouncers. Haven't you watched Test in SL where he rattled SL batsman with his bouncers. Remember Kolkata test last year against SL where his one spell of short pitch bowling to Hashim Amla turned the momentum in favor of India. When he is in rhythm he can bowl everything he wants to. He may not bowl yorkers, but he will learn it and there is no benefit to bowl bouncers when when edges can carry for 6s on that pace in a T20. If he gets bounce from good length and bit of movement that is hard to score then and that is good enough. He will learn bowling yorkers. Everything comes with time, but he needs to bowl to his strength that is pace and bounce.

ganeshran
I dont know if the speed gun was faulty, but Ishant was bowling really well, he looked pumped up and got his line and length right too..

rkt.india
the commentator first thought it was a slower ball because it didnt bounce much bt replay showed it was not a slower ball yes right...Ishant didnt bowl a single slow delivery yesterday. sudheer kumar
Sharma bowled above 145kph consistently in the 6th over of Bangalore Innings. He is brilliant on such kind of pitches.

CoverDrive
Good bowling - though he has to attack the stumps and bowl out batsmen. He is very much a bowler in the Srinath mould right now.
cricketlover
as soon as he bowls in international cricket he will once again start churning out 130k pies
Sachin2210
He bowled well yesterday. And I am glad that he has got his pace back. Really looking forward to watch him torment batsmen in the matches ahead.
Switchblade
He bowled well yesterday hope that he learns more from Steyn not a bad thing that they are in the same team IMO and pados me to gam ka mahaul hai k Ishant 150 nahi dal sakta they are still obsessed with speeds do they remember apart from Riaz Gul the phasssssshhhhhhttt bowler was taken to the cleaners :giggle:
Prakat
dont care about playin against the pakis, they can go to hell in a way they are there already lol anyway, as for speeds, wasnt there some talk about speed being measured at the point of delivery? so what does the pitch have to do with it? Yes, the speed gun calculates from the release point to a few more frames ahead of that. The pitch doesn't make a difference.
ViruRulez
Ishant should be recalled in the Indian team now. He is the improved bowler amongst all the axed bowlers and seems to have gained at least 10K pace and 20K at the max since his ousting. Ishant anyways works a lot better when guided by Zak and he went haywire when Zak was injured and out of the Indian team. I would include him in the England tour alongwith Zak. Third seamer for tests should be Sree and for ODIs Munaf. Reserve bowler in the team for me would be PK.
