seriously !! i am raging hard thinking somebody got paid for his utter lack of creativity. how did this even got past of design board?? i hate apple but this is so blatant.
Teams are often said at Samsung Bangalore that real work starts after launch of iphone. :giggle: Copying is hardly secret method there.

In fairness to Samsung' date=' how the hell are you supposed to represent a 'phone' tab? With the symbol of an umbrella? :dontknow:[/quote'] this. Though this case wont amount to much, Samsung will appeal and get the award cancelled or reduced, it will set a bad precedent for patent trolling. Next thing you know, Apple will sue everyone for making a rectangular tablet because its of the same form factor, or maybe for copying the colour of the tablets.

It's too obvious to anyone who has held a Samsung Android phone that the look and feel is a copy of the iPhone, not as slick either.

Anyone who checks that 132 page document will know what Samsung's real intentions were. My favorite is No. 25 - Visual Interaction Effect while typing a message iPhone - When writing a message, a window pops up to show which key was pressed and the user receives a feedback Samsung S1 - A window pops up but is so large that a significant portion of the keypad is obstructed :hysterical:

I am keen to see the results of the patent case Samsung's Motorola department has filed on Apple. I hear it has some merit.

If only the inventors of TV, computer, railway, electric bulb, aeroplanes, cars etc. had patented their products, we might have been living in the medieval times right now. I am not sure patent laws are moving in the right direction.

Yeah, read about it in the morning on zdnet. Funny considering the relationship between the two companies. Will they now pretend like nothing happened and carry on as before? Also funny considering how Apple has always made fun of MS for similar lawsuits in the past. They accuse MS of "not having the balls" for competition. Now they run to court like a child at the first sign of competition.

People from Hollywood ran to the west coast and started pirating his inventions. Now hollywood is suing everyone for piracy :haha:

They get to use all apple patents and vice versa but they are not allowed to clone the iphone. Apple tried to sign a similar agreement with Samsung but they refused.

@5:08 – Henry Ford quote @5:23 – iPhone’s Multi-touch (PS: not created by Apple but stole and patented by Apple) @7:27 – Steve Job’s quoting about artists and copying and stealing (Job’s misquoted the originator ) zd-dqUuvLk4 wFeC25BM9E0

Android is based on Unix/Linux as is the case with Apple. And Samsung mobile phones are hardly any different from any of the other Android mobile phones in the market except a few features here and there. Yes, about originality, everyone has got some inspiration from a previous product. Apple did not create the world's first computer. Their OS X and iOS are Unix based OSes. They have also got inspiration from a lot of previous products throughout the years. Every company in this world has taken inspiration somewhere or the other. Was source code from Apple copied by Samsung? I don't think so as Google developed Android and not Samsung. Patent is being misused nowadays and that is a fact. At the end of the day, the biggest loser is the consumer who might now be devoid of quality smartphone options. And an average Indian consumer can differentiate easily between a Nokia and Samsung mobile phone or a Samsung and Apple mobile phone. The funniest part I hear is of people mistakenly purchasing a Samsung Galaxy for an iPhone. I doubt US consumers are that ignorant to think a Samsung Galaxy to be an iPhone. At least, they can read the branding which will be there both on the box and the phone. I am a sort of Google supporter. So, I would anyways support Samsung in this case. :P

Samsung is just a manufacturer and the biggest one for Android, which is Apples real headache and many have turned over to it which is what hurts em. Here is Google's statement with a nice little poke on Apple :cantstop: “The court of appeals will review both infringement and the validity of the patent claims. Most of these don’t relate to the core Android operating system, and several are being re-examined by the US Patent Office. The mobile industry is moving fast and all players — including newcomers — are building upon ideas that have been around for decades. We work with our partners to give consumers innovative and affordable products, and we don’t want anything to limit that.” =============================================================== As a consumer, this is actually exciting - lets see some new stuff
