WTF? The franchisees are so dumb to employ these disgusting losers..Right from player auctions to team selection and batting order, these feckers have left no stones unturned to feck up their respective teams.. The team owners should intervene immediately and kick these losers out..

DD coach has been the worst of them all, trying all Victorian domestic players like Wade,Birt ahead of an intl. player like Ingram.

DD coach has been the worst of them all' date='trying all Victorian domestic players like Wade,Birt ahead of an intl. player like Ingram.[/quote'] Well said. IPL coach should be from India IMO as he will have an idea about the domestic players and also would not be swayed by players from one particular country (read Australia). I still can't get over John Buchannan's "multiple captains" theory :cantstop: Aussie coaches are simply milking money as they had a great team due to the likes of McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, Ponting etc. and not due to coaches. Hope better sense prevails from next time onwards and local coaches have more say.

DC coach is the worst. He had no credentials as a coach, was known for binge drinking more than fitness. The irony is that franchise owners go by "word of mouth" and shut their cricketing logic in a locker. Next season DC, Delhi coaches will be surely shown the door.

I said this as the auction was happening. C'mon now..how bad are Elton Chigumbura, Brendan Taylor, Taibu, Tamim compared to the Wades, Birts, Mitchell Marshs :dontknow:

Bud franchise owners don't have "cricketing logic" and that's why they go by word of mouth :--D But the sad part is they are listening to the wrong ppl. I mean how can you select an Aussie or any intl coach when most of the players in your team would be Indian youngsters who most probably can't even understand these so called "coaches". Ultimately IPL is decided by how the Indian players perform and for that you need to have India based coach or a coach who knows these Indian players well.

Dermot Reeve is a good T20 coach. So is Dominic Cork' date=' player-cum-coach.[/quote'] To be a good coach you have to know your players quite well. What are the chances the coaches show up for 6-8 weeks and understand the Indian youngsters inside out. I won't be surprized if these coaches don't even know what most of the Indian players in their IPL franchise squad actually do, i.e. bowl/bat/all-rounder. For a tourney like IPL I would actually go with a local coach - somebody like Sandeep Patil, Mohinder Amarnath etc. and get specialist coaches like Jonty Rhodes for fielding, McGrath for bowling or Bevan for batting etc. if required. But the main coach has to be the one who knows the players.

DC did win IPL 2 under him.

Nothing wrong in having an "aussie" or a "saffie" or a "NZ" coach. You need to have a good person however who will not pick players based on personal connections. For example Fleming did probably play a part in getting Southee to CSK, but the guy just came of a stellar WC campaign, so it was justified. Now take the case of Lehmann/DC picking up Christian (who supposedly is his buddy) for 900k - I mean WTF?

I must point out that Dav Whatmore has done very well in selecting players, captain etc in Auctions, playing XIs and batting order.. But I think his stint in National Academy has helped a lot is knowing most of the Indian young players. :hatsoff:

These feckers should have learned from the John Bhookanaan disaster to not give too much power to the coach cuz cricket is not same as football or hockey, here a captain should be the one calling all the shots. all the teams who have won the IPL had stronger captains like Warne, Gilly and Dhoni and even RCB started to do well when Kumble became the captain

Time has come for the franchises to adopt a more professional approach. Each of them must operate like a cricket board in itself, with a group of selectors, coaches and a couple of practice grounds. Currently, each franchise operates in an ad-hoc and haphazard manner.
