vaibhav_delhi Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I really can't speak for other Indian Muslims, but my hunch is that reading this mindless post of yours is more likely to 'upset' the 'minority'. And probably the majority too. correct!! Its absolutely not about 'not upsetting the minority' in india.
Mariyam Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Not Dawood' date=' but for some reason politicians have linked the execution of Afzal Guru to minority votes.[/quote'] Really? Do you even buy that logic? Do you think that Muslims (in general) will be 'upset' if Afzal Guru is executed? So if Afzal Guru is executed, they won't vote for the party in power?? Anyways, I wanted Texy to answer that because he raised this very factually incorrect point. And he mentioned Dawood Ibrahim not Afzal Guru.
punjabi_khota Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 There is no such thing as a general stand. There is no 'one' stand from any community in India. All this talk of a monolithic Muslim vote bank in India is nonsense. Or so I feel. Hell, I and my mother can't decide over which brand of jam to have for breakfast let alone zero in on a party. Personally, I prefer mixed fruit and she prefers orange marmalade. But anyways, we are digressing here. This is to discuss Osama and his mansion. Blatantly wrong. Please see poll numbers from year 1950 to 2010. Kthx.
Mariyam Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Blatantly wrong. Please see poll numbers from year 1950 to 2010. Kthx. Poll numbers? Please show me those poll numbers. Kthnx. Anyways, lets not digress any further. Texy said that Indian Muslims would be 'upset' if India took action against Dawood in Pakistan, and that is the reason India is not doing anything. Do you agree with him?

I never said that Muslims in India will be upset if Afzal Guru is hanged. I said that there is a feeling among politicians that they will be upset and will cause a backlash in their vote banks. That is the only reason why his execution has not been carried out still inspite of the the court pronouncing the judgement long back. Votebanks do exist both in Hindus and Muslims. Generally the middle and upper class have enough sources of information to form an independent opinion. But significant majority of people still vote according to caste or religious affiliations and it this lot that is exploited by politicians.

Texy said that Indian Muslims would be 'upset' if India took action against Dawood in Pakistan, and that is the reason India is not doing anything. Do you agree with him? well, political parties across the country have been trying to woo the "Muslim vote" for decades :dontknow:
Stuge Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 @Mariyam : yep that's true .that's the reason congress isn't ready to hang afzal guru. This minority appeasement policy is to be blamed for that to some extent. I can clarify more about this somewhere else ,but I can't give names of such people over here . Note : I don't want this thread to become a religious fight .So ,I feel we all should refrain from doing that.
vaibhav_delhi Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 lolzz....thread is started in my name. vote bank politics does exist, but it is not a cause for not bringing down dawood , hafeez saeed n other terrorists residing in pakistan...
Sachin=GOD Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Vote bank politics most certainly exists. Parties like the Samajwadi Party, Ajit Singh's Lokdal etc survive mainly on the back of their respective vote banks and do all kinds of things to maintain that vote banks.
yoda Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 So people have a problem believing that our Politicians will do ANYTHING to get votes?
Stuge Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 See guys in politics everything is fair as long as you can get more number of votes for your party to win the elections . For the same reason these parties tend to go to any extend to get votes .
Baad Indian Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The Secular parties go on to appease the Mullahs because that will bring in more votes for them . Its not a hidden mystery why Glorified warriors like Afzal Guru and Kasab are still not sentenced to death in India .

And BTW, Guru and Kasab are sentenced to death. And you use the word 'secular' as if secularism is something to be shunned. Seriously, I'm

asterix Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Secularism is okay..Problem is with "Pseudo-Secularism".. Like Digvijay Singh and Mulayam Singh questioning the Batla House Encounter etc. The politics of vote is based on that percieved "swing of % votes"..The one you see Pronnoy Roy discussing with Dorab Batliwala(or whateverwala), during election analysis.. All the "Secular" parties fear that percieved "%Swing votes" against them..Kangress will fear that if they execute Afzal Guru, Mulayam Singh or their own Digvijay Singh will make a huge issue out of it and maybe, that could result in the "%swing" of the Muslim votes against them in the upcoming UP elections or any other elections.. That's the reason why actions have been pending against these guilty people. PS: I would like to know the names of Secular Muslim National leaders in India who actually have some say over the Muslim communities.. I would really like to know. Because all I've seen is some Bukhari or Owaisi hijacking every cause related to Muslims in India and backed my politicians like Mulayam Singh and Abu Azmi..
Baad Indian Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Glorified warriors??? Glorified by whom?? What exactly are you talking about? And BTW, Guru and Kasab are sentenced to death. And you use the word 'secular' as if secularism is something to be shunned. Seriously, I'm Typo Error . I meant that they are yet to be hanged inspite of the judiciary having clear evidence about there involvement in war against the state. Terrorists like Afzal and Kasab are regarded as warriors by many especially in Indian Kashmir and Pakistan . Many Pakistanis actually justify the Mumbai attacks by relating it to the presence of Indian Army in Kashmir . Secularism is an excellent concept but that is not being practised in India in its true essence . Appeasing minorities at any cost is not the right way forward . Secular Nations dont take sh*t from anyone , they have there own set of guidelines where everyone is expected to live according to the rules of the land rather than changing them to appease certain sections , France , Italy , Netherlands are just a few examples of such nations unlike the Greatest Secular Nation India where the PM openly declares that " Muslims have first right to India's resources" or where terrorists belonging to Minority community continue to enjoy Biryani and Kababs in Jails even after there acts have been proved or where it is made sure that the Indian flag isnt unfurled in sensitive areas to avoid hurting sentiments of the minority .

Mariyam Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Afzal Guru was sentenced to death in 2004. Why has the sentence not been carried out for the last 7 years? I don't know. Why are you asking me? This is my guess however: http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=1478608&postcount=9 My turn to ask a question: :P Why is the sky blue?
Stuge Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I don't know. Why are you asking me? My turn to ask a question: :P Why is the sky blue? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=why+is+%20the+%20sky+blue+%3F :P
asterix Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 May be a separate topic.. Can Muslims be secular? Do they need to be secular? Which Indian secular muslim leader commands huge following and support? Imam Bukhari of Jama Masjid commands huge support. He even issues Fatwas in which he asks Muslims to vote to a particular political party prior to elections. Not sure if he is Secular or not but he commands huge following, especially in electorically important states like UP & Bihar..
