Imam Bukhari of Jama Masjid command huge support. He even issues Fatwas in which he asks Muslims to vote to a particular political party prior to elections. Not sure if he is Secular or not but he commands huge following, especially in electorically important states like UP & Bihar.. Abdul Kalam. He is a muslim and he is a leader. have got good fortune to listen to him. He gives often gives references from and reads a book called or written by Thiruvayur. A Hindu religious and political scholar.

Does he has a "following"? I think you are missing the point. He could be an "example" but does he has a "following"? Could any of his messages or "examples" help common Muslims to go against Imam Bukhari or say Asaduddin Owaisi? It's another matter that Janaab Kalam was supported by a rightist BJP and it's NDA allies for Presidency..

They are..Fatwas from Delhi Jama Masjid works beautifully. I've first hand experience in watching how the local fatwas and instructions work. You've to see it to believe it. You've no idea how 'en-masse voting' works.. Why do they talk about % Muslim vote swings (positive or negative) during election analysis. Why don't they talk about % Christian, Sikh or Buddhist vote swings?

What about Muslims living in a Muslim country; does the country take precedence over religion there? Do most of them prefer Bugs Bunny to Donald Duck when staying in a secular country? What if they migrate to an Islamic country? Their preference changes?

Edit: To you your religion, to me mine. But there are lots of other quotations in the book too. People who deny this will also deny the fact that sun rises from east. There whole purpose of existence is converting people and quarreling. Over the years Muslims in India have soften, mainly because most of them are converts from Hindus and Buddhists. look at most troubled countries around the world and you would be surprised how many of them have Muslim majority population. They just cannot live peacefully.

My answer is irrelevant. I don't believe in this entire system of collective guilt. The people who do the crime must be punished. Simple as that. As far as I know, no Indian ( Muslim or otherwise) helped Osama and the Al Qaida. If anyone did, they deserve punishment. May be they did not helped Al Qaida. But some of them do help the terrorist activities in India. I repeat this again, there is no way people can just come to Mumbai and start shooting on random targets. It is well known that they were in the city before to final the targets. Also, what about 93 bomb blasts where the explosives were dropped on Konkan coast in parts which have majority Muslim population.
