nikred Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 :haha::haha::haha: thanks for reminding...I remember renting sh1tty korean made VCPs (they were cheaper to rent)that would never work until you give it a lil nudge or bump...I would rent hours of bugs bunny & tom n jerry :woot: Remember was so excited when my dad sent an imported Philips VCR from America, mom bought our 1st color tv(no remote) next day -- Videocon for Rs. 20,000 (early 90s price) :--D We had a National VCR and a decent collection of cassettes. My favorites were Modern Times, Mary Poppins, Tom & Jerry, ABBA music videos, Pink Panther and some random Russian circus video. :--D Man, I miss those times. :((
saneindian Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Shammi Narang, Ved Prakash, Salma Sultana, Suneet Tandon, Usha Albuqueque, Geetanjali Aiyer, Minu Talwar, Kaveri Mukherjee, man with the baritone Tejeshwar Singh..some of the most famous Hindi and English news readers from the 80s and early 90s before cable TV took over.
asterix Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 There was a time when Video parlours did a brisk business..This was when Television reach was still limited to Metro cities and ofcourse there was no Dish & Cable services. All sorts of video parlour mushroomed in big, medium and small towns. They even used to place a magnifying screen in front of the TV to give a 'theare' like effect. I'v seen all sorts of movies in those video parlours... Mostly Chinese martial art movies and all sorts of Jeetendra (South production) movies.. Then you had this secret Blue Film shows...Oh those days.. The operator used to quickly change the cassette if he gets a news of raids etc..

coffee_rules Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 In early-lates 80s, I had seen a few hourholds with b&w tv fiited with a color screen, it has a few set colors - red, green. blue etc on different areas to get a feel of a color TV!
Prakat Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 The video wallahs in lucknow had a unique hack. They would record xxx clips right at the end of the tapes of normal movies. So the movie ended and then there would be snow for twenty minutes and then these clips would start. Only the uncles knew about it. So after everyone in the family would finish seeing 'saajan' or 'beta' they would wait till everyone was asleep and then fast forward through the snow to get to the porn. :hehe:

Prakat Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Campa cola. Bar-one (had the hots for the oomphy girl in the ad) probably why I was drawn to ads in the first place. Kissan squash. "citra...super cooler!"
