anotherhawkeye Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 There are two tier of play off teams - first tier consists of #1 and #2 teams and second tier consists of #3 and #4 teams. It doesn't matter where a team ends up within a tier. Obviously a team would like to end up in the first tier so that they can lose a game and still end up in the final. Likely Tier 1 playoff teams: MI Likely Tier 1 or 2 teams : CSK, KKR, KXIP Tough to pull off teams : RR, RCB, KTK :mi: Remaining matches: 5 Playoff caliber opponents: RR, KXIP, KKR IMHO, MI will end up in the first tier. They are a good team, have a weak schedule and have only 3 games against playoff caliber teams. Unless they have a meltdown, which I don't think they will, they are guaranteed a spot in tier 1. :csk: Remaining games: 5 Playoff caliber opponents: KKR, RR, KTK, RCB Out of 5, four against playoff caliber teams. Going to be tough to pull it off. :prayer:. Their match against KKR could prove crucial. If they win that match, win against the minnow(DD) and win 2 out of 3 against the remaining playoff teams, they will be in tier 1. :kkr: Remaining games: 4 Playoff caliber opponents: CSK, RCB, MI Their lose today against KTK was a big blow to their chance of landing in Tier 1. As a CSK fan, I'm glad :winky:. Their next match against CSK is big. If they lose it, hard to see them end up in Tier 1. If MI wins all their remaining matches, they might end up resting their starters for the last match. That could make that match a little easy for KKR. :kxip: Remaining games: 7. :omg:. The schedule is screwed up. Playoff caliber opponents: RCB, MI, KTK, RCB They have 3 games against minnows and 4 against playoff caliber teams. If they win both matches against RCB, they could eliminate RCB and end up in the playoffs. They have to win quite a bit, but could end up in tier 1. :ktk: Remaining games: 4 Playoff caliber opponents: RCB, KXIP, RR, CSK They had a good outing against KKR today. Still every remaining game is against a playoff caliber teams. They have no more home games as well. Hard to see them qualify for playoffs. :rr: Remaining games: 4 Playoff caliber opponents: CSK, RCB, KTK, MI Like KTK, all their remaining games are against playoff caliber teams. They have to bring them A game to qualify for the playoffs. :rcb: Remaining games: 6 Playoff caliber opponents: KXIP, KTK, RR, KKR, KXIP, CSK They have 6 remaining games, so that's good. But the bad thing is, they have to play all of them against playoff caliber teams. They can still pull it off, but again going to be tough. Their matches against KXIP is going to be crucial. They need to win both of them to eliminate KXIP and take their spot in the playoff.
anotherhawkeye Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 RCB is looking really strong with their batting line up. Gayle :adore:, Kholi, ABDV are all on form. They might still surprise. KXIP, :fail:. Very less chances of making it to tier-1. :bye: If they play like this, they can't even make it to the playoffs.
ch1234 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 MI, CSK and RCB.. Fourth team should be Kochin Tuskers, if KKR loses tomorrow..Kochi might even get to finals..
yoda Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 No one, including MI is still guaranteed anything. Just one loss separates MI and CSK and I don't think CSK is safe either.
anotherhawkeye Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 No one' date=' including MI is still guaranteed anything. Just one loss separates MI and CSK and I don't think CSK is safe either.[/quote'] Mathematically, you are right. Anything could happen. But it's improbable man. If our team CSK wins against KKR, hard to see them not making it to top 4.
anotherhawkeye Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 MI, CSK and RCB.. Fourth team should be Kochin Tuskers, if KKR loses tomorrow..Kochi might even get to finals.. MI, CSK in Tier 1 RCB, KKR in Tier 2 That would awesome. KTK just doesn't excite me. Sorry mallus.
rajmarie Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 IMO KTC, RCB & DD will push & complicate matters. CSK,KKR & RR needs to be careful otherwise a good season will be spoiled for them.
sarcastic Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 IMO KTC' date=' [b']RCB & DD will push & complicate matters. CSK,KKR & RR needs to be careful otherwise a good season will be spoiled for them. RCB is as much in contention as CSK/KKR/RR now!!!!!!! U put them along with KTC and DD?????
rajmarie Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 RCB is as much in contention as CSK/KKR/RR now!!!!!!! U put them along with KTC and DD????? U r right. They are 11 points. I thought they were having 9 points after today win.. Still basically 7 teams in contention for the top 4 spot.
sachinrox Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 mum v/s kkr csk v/s rcb and finally mum v/s csk again :agree:
urbestfriend Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 MI, CSk and KKR are sure shot. Last slot fight between RR,KTK and RCB.
anotherhawkeye Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 mum v/s kkr csk v/s rcb and finally mum v/s csk again :agree: Revenge game would be awesome. Would like nothing better than beating :mi: in the finals. Again.
hari504504 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 KTK vs Mumbai again.. the script: Tendu scores another century..and as expected MI lose..
anotherhawkeye Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 CSK has to get it's act together soon. This lose is a huge blow for them. They can't afford to lose any more games if they want to finish in tier 1. They can at most lose 1 more game to qualify for the playoffs. Anything more, its sayonara Dhoni's boiz.
ensd2 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 It gonna be : MI vs RBC and : KKR vs CSK then final : Mumbai vs RBC winner : all depend on Sachin/ Malinga / Gayle /AB
anotherhawkeye Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 :mi: have qualified for the last 4.... Congratulations. I guess it was never in doubt after the first half. Question is, whether they will end up in #1/#2 spot. I think they will.
Lord Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 havent been following IPL so couldnt understand a thing.but good to know everybody has a chance still.I thought KXIP were out
rajmarie Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 It gonna be : MI vs RBC and : KKR vs CSK then final : Mumbai vs RBC winner : all depend on Sachin/ Malinga / Gayle /AB Too early to make any predictions. Specially the top 4 teams are playing very good...& on their day...they can beat anybody. RBC have been riding Gayle storm...but lets see how they do when Gayle dont get them the start he been providing. BTW...with Dilshan gone now...RBC can get better.
