So there has been only speculations and nothing concrete. Even if we , for a second, consider this to be true, what is the player count? From Pakistan - 4 players : So 4 off the Semifinal team other than Afridi, Wahab and Ajmal. From India - 1 Delhi player ( So either Sehwag, Ghambir, Kholi or Nehra??) From WI - Gayle. Am i correct as i didnt read, esp the hindi part properly.

I think ICC has to do something about these "so called whistle blowers". It is getting out of control. Unless they have proof like they had in Pakistan's case they should all keep quiet.
I think it's high time "defamation" and "bringing the name in disrepute" suits are filed. Right now every Tom (Aamer Sohail), Dick (Basit Ali) and Harry (Hashan Tillekratne) can come out and make allegations without any proof. I think once a few ppl were punished for false allegations things will quiet down. I mean right now what's stopping anyone from saying "I know the game is fixed. So and so's friend told me about it"? If you have proof then show it or simply shut up. Hope BCCI and ICC drag all these folks who make wild allegations to court.

And that brings up the India connection in the Sports Illustrated story. Quote: “What is worse, in many ways, is that local bookies and middlemen either claim to know players personally, or know their agents very well. In one conversation, a top Delhi bookie’s sidekick informed us that he had called up a senior player during a T20 international because of a Rs 5 crore spot-fixing deal that had fallen through. “While we were not privy to him calling up the player in question, the player’s personal numbers he had were correct and some of the details and team information he had were startling.â€
Hmmm. "Senior" India player would rule Kohli out, and Nehra though old isn't exactly senior. That just leaves the two of them.

Sehwag hasn't played a T20 international for a couple of years now.

From what I hear, 'Sports Illustrated' team has really worked hard for this story. Let's see how it pans out..as of now this match-fixing story seems to be missing a smoking gun in the manner of NOTW.

hmmmm I hope this is not true at all. The only Delhi player who has abusive language when they get angry or something is bugging them is GG. He usually does the whole Maa Bahan thing......which is apparently what the Delhi player said to the bookie on the phone. :nervous:

GG would never underperform for money. He has a very bright future with the team and stands to earn a lot
Then only VS and AN are left. For me buying AS is a waste of money. You can get same result for free.

My first take, it sounds like some concocted nonsense. While fixing may have happened, none of the conversations revealed here seem either real or even unambiguous in content. It looks like Sports Illustrated needs urgent improvement in sales revenue and this concoction is the best way to make an easy buck. They have the added advantage that a tabloid like NOTW pulled off something recently so the public will buy into it. Next, it looks like Prem Panicker needs to let people know he is alive and still writes cricket columns somewhere. National player from Delhi...who...Viru? Gauti? Virat? Any ckrap these buggers write. I mean if one of these players was so eager to make money on top of his stupendous earnings from IPL and BCCI and his media signings, he really must be aiming to beat Bill Gates or Mukesh Ambani in his richness quotient. Viru? Gauti? Virat? Seriously? These media fellows have no sense of social responsibility. Bloody hell just coz someone does it somewhere they want to paint everyone with the same brush just to sell their stories. Imagine what would have happened if SI said the national player was from Mumbai and is the captain of an IPL team as well. Of course fixing happens but the way these guys are concocting stuff ain't funny. They have stooped to a shameless existence as far as their professional honor and values are concerned. Any game of pakistan feel free to concoct stuff. A WI senior player who has problems with his board is an easy target to spill dirt on. "BCCI Official", "Bihar politician"...what easy meat these terms are in an expose! These buggers have blurred the line between betting and fixing so much so that the default meaning of betting now seems to be 'fixing'. A bookie is not a fixer but these fellows have now anointed them with this degree as well. Hell tomorrow News channels will squeeze the life out of us...damn!

Warnie predicting tie would come under investigation then :cantstop: .
O you probably didn't know but the Pakis filled their news channels with this snippet on the night of that game. The usual suspects like Sarfraz and Latif were out asking "how did Warne know this 6 hours before the end?"
