I think its fair to say that this season of IPL 4 has provided quite a few surprises when it comes to performances Some big name players havn't really lived up to their names, whilst some lesser known or less praised players have proven their worth This thread is all about those surprise talents, who do you think has done really well in this season despite a lack of experience and/or notoriety My list is as follows Johan Botha-one has to wonder why we've never played this guy further up the order, his presicion and class have been outstanding, and his bowling has only benefitted from sub-continent conditions :hatsoff: to Warne for realizing his potential Kieran Pollard-I fully expected this guy to do well in the batting department, but oddly it has been his bowling and fielding that has really impressed me. Seeing that enormous frame leaping about in the field is terrific to see, one has to wonder if the earth shakes when he lands. His bowling has also been an unexpected delight Paul Valtharty-this character has all the qualities of a big up and comer. His aggresive style and determination to attack bowlers smacks of Virender Sewag in some respects. His inexperience means that he still lets himself get out to foolish shots sometimes, but if I were the Indian coach I'd keep a close eye on this guy Albie Morkel-much like Pollard, it hasn't been Morkels batting thats impressed me, 114m six notwithstanding. His bowling has improved tremendously and for an all-rounder to be up there amongst the best bowlers of the tournament is pretty impressive. His brother Morne cant be too happy about it though Shane Warne-dear lord has this guy still got it. Warne has prove that age is no hinderance when it comes to fantastic spin bowling. Forty years old and this guy is still bowling circles around the top players in the world. I speak on behalf of everyone when I wish him a happy retirement. You've earned it Warne:hatsoff: Rahul Sharma-doesn't count, I knew this guy would kill:winky: Badrinath-true, this guy is quite well known, but in a lineup including Dhoni and Raina, it would have been all too easy for him to fade into the background. Hasn't happened, Badrinath is playing with a style and purpose that really adds to the Chennai batting order, and he hasn't shown any sign of slowing (special mention) Tendulkar-this one might seem redundant, but to be honest, I was a bit worried when I heard that he was going to captain Mumbai, given his relative lack of experience. Well Mr Tendulkar, you surprise me yet again. Besides his excellent playing, Sachin has proven himself a formiddalbe captain in this tournament, marshalling his troops well and leading from the front like any good captain should. With retirement soon upon him, we have to wonder, is there anything left for him to do? well that's it if you have any players you'd like to celebrate for unexpected greatness, please respond :hatsoff:

Gumbo's captaincy. Early days, but between Viru, Yuvraj, Virat, Sanga, Mahela, Sachin and Dhoni he has really shone through this season. This bodes well for the future for Indian cricket. He may well end up being the VC of the Indian Team sooner than later.

Ali Murtaza - When he has been picked he has kept it tight for Mumbai. Munaf Patel - Has been Superb this season. Amit Mishra - Maybe he has received some praise but he has generally been superb and he was pretty unlucky the other day as Sehwag was twice dropped off his bowling. Iqbal Abdullah - Has bowled very well. Yusuf Pathan - Not for his batting but his bowling has been surprsingly good. Vinay Kumar - Usually bowls well, keeps it fairly tight and picks up wickets. Dan Vettori - Rarely gets hit. Rajat Bhatia- I think he gets slated on here for having limited ability but he makes use of it. Has been a useful bowler for KKR.
