So from the WC squad 4 likely to miss out are Sachin, Sehwag, Dhoni and Zaheer. Plus Nehra and Chawla will be dropped. Not sure if they will pick Sreesanth ether given his latest antics in the IPL. The likely replacements will be Rayudu, Badri, Rohit, Parthiv, PK, Ishant (though I hope he doesn't get picked for the shorter formats for the time being) and Rahul Sharma. The team could look like this Gambhir©, Parthiv (wk), Kohli, Yuvraj, Raina, Rohit, Badri, Rayudu, Yusuf, Bhajji, Ashwin, PK, Munaf, Ishant, Rahul Sharma They will need one more pacer. Who could be the lucky guy? RPS, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, Balaji or will they persist with Sreesanth?
would love to see another spinner in place of Bhajji atleast for WI ODIs

Dhoni shouldnt play - back problems. Yuvi - hamstring niggle. Sehwag- Shoulder surgery Sachin - hardly plays in low profile series anyways. Gambhir - Knee issues. yuppo - some injury. So this might be a side --------- Seems bit weak to me esp in middle order P.Patel and Rayudu - opening Kohli - 1 down Badri - 2 down Rahane (can be given a try in the shorter format too),- 3 down Raina - 4 down Bhajji - 5down PK Rahul Sharma / Ashwin Freesanth Munaf

PK is injured. He is still not fit. he has developed tennis elbow and he will need surgery for that. he was struggling in the last match.

Am assuming Mukund will be in the Test squad but yeah' date=' wouldn't have been a bad idea to give him some international experience beforehand. As for Rahane, its a mystery why he has never played for India despite his performances at FC and 'A' team level.[/quote'] Mukund is nothing special. vijay is miles better than him. he dances on the short pitch bowling of even pankaj singh and rp singh. he is poor version of phil hughes.

Didn't he go for an elbow surgery in January and miss the WC because of that? Has the same problem flared up again or is it a new injury?

i dont think he had any surgery then...he would have had bit of advice and medicine then...with surgery, he would have missed IPL...a major operation normally takes minimum 6 months to be back to the best...SRT had tennis elbow and missed so many games

Praveen told TOI it is never easy to come out of injury and attain peak fitness right away. "During the World Cup, I underwent surgery for an elbow injury. Then I had to undergo rehab at the NCA in Bangalore. That helped me a lot as I was able get fit in time for the IPL." http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-04-15/news/29421713_1_world-cup-fitness-praveen-kumar

Given that the core gaize are over worked, it does make sense to spread the net to give more people chances and keep people rested and sane. I would like Harbhajan to rest, so that Ashwin/Sharma can get some decent number of outings.

Finally, friggin justice! Hope these guys perform so well that it becomes a massive headache for the team management if they even entertain thoughts of dropping these champion players.

Plz.. not Rayudu as keeper. This guy is utterly mediocre behind the stumps. might work for Mumbai Indians. Not the real Indians.
Gotta agree here, he does not look natural and same goes for Uthappa. With the slow and bouncy wickets in WI it is important to have someone quick on their feet and sharp hands, hence probably would stick with Parthiv or Karthik. I hope selectors don't basee their decisions purely on IPL as some decent players haven't had right opportunity with all the chopping and changing e.g. U.Yadav, Aaron, Pujara, Rahane, S.Tiwary P Ojha, and what happened to the likes of Tyagi, Sangwan, Yo Mahesh. The should consider the domestic one-day tournaments and the recent Emerging Players Tournament in Australia. In 2009 Kohli really came to the fore in Emerging Players Tournment in NZ. At the end of day 20/20 is still hit&miss&giggle compared to ODIs and Tests. My ODI XI (resting/injured: Sachin, Sehwag, Dhoni, Zaheer, Bhaji) 1 Gambhir (capt) 2 Rayudu 3 Kohli 4 Yuvraj 5 Raina 6 Yusuf Pathan 7 Parthiv (wkt) 8 Rahul Sharma 9 Ashwin 10 Munaf Patel 11 U.Yadav Subs: Badrinath, Irafan Pathan, Unadkat, Aaron, Ojha Note: Rayudu might be having a good IPL but he was always future Test potential when he was U19 Indian captain, until he got screwed first by his father then Hyderabad then by ICL. Remember he played for a team that were Ranji finalists this year. When I first saw him play for U19 I believed we had found to some extent a successor to Sachin, but alas Rayudu was led to the wrong paths. Very humble and soft spoken too! Also I think the likes Aaron, U. Yadav, Chahar, Unadkat need to be given an year long run at international level to learn and develop their control and skill, if they fail to muster at the top level then fair enough drop them. Just like how Rohit Sharma was given over 2 years to prove himself but failed convince at top level. India really need to develop that regular hit the deck fast bowler. Remember Sreesanth set eyes rolling during his debut in SA and he was awesome again this year, but on flat tracks is cannon fodder.

Pathan isn't good enough to bat at 6. Also remember if Dhoni does not play, you'll have only 5 specialist batsmen. Our other keepers aren't that great with the bat. Parthiv Patel can't bat at 7. He has to bat at the top if he plays.

Both Badri and Raydu deserve a chance. They should be selected ahead of Rohit this time.
Rightly, as talented as Rohit is, he had 2 years to prove himself, he had that test opportunity (vs SA) too but fluffed it with a silly pre-warm up injury playing football, so time to put Rohit on the shelf for at least a year and try some new ones. Definitely Badri and Rayudu, who come with excellent domestic resume.
