quick run through memory suggests that - most of the 'elegant/classy' lefties are on an average taller than 'classy' righty maestros. can anyone verify/counter?
Actually, I would say the vast majority of 'classy' batsman right or left handed, have been tall (well according to the average cricket batsman height) like Laxman, Azhar, M Waugh, Gower, Ganguly, Martyn, Zaheer Abbas.

On the other hand short batsmen have to be compact player with quick reflections.

Yeah, probably has to do with the longer arm extension and the ability to cover more ground with the front foot. Think about the manner in which Azhar or Waugh could work good length deliveries through mid wicket off the front foot - a shorter batsman would either play it to mid on off the front foot or through square leg off the back foot. Of course, you need great wrists to go along with it, but the end result is an effective stroke not from the coaching manual, which makes them stand out and look elegant.

I wonder how elegant Laxman looks as a left hander because he is one of the most fluent and stylish batsman even as a right hander.:two_thumbs_up:
and can Dhoni look classy by any way?

You could add graeme pollock in your list, he has reputation of being classy. some shorter classy ones: lara, tendu, ponting, sehwag, bradman(??), arvinda de silva absolute bombs, all of them. regarding lefty tendu: like shane said, does look a lot like raina to me too... with faster hands, footwork n more compact version.

Can anyone find a video of Lara with the mirror effect?
Here: vEaC_TvnQ_Y The video has tics' watermark on it. So it was originally his video.

I wonder how David Gower would look playing right-handed. Back in the day, he was the epitome of languid, left-handed grace. Nn3VnRpfwp0&feature=related
