Looks like the usual left wing haramis have shown up bent out of shape that their facade of "ohh Iam Sickular wonly" will get ripped off ... what surprise ...
Man, what's the reason to abuse people with different points of view?

Because I deal abuse with abuse ... see Lurkers post and let me know if you think he is merely expressing his POV and not abusing.
Can you please point me to the part in his post where he says that certain people of certain political entitlement are born of unknown fathers?

No, he is not abusing. He has expressed is opinion in perfectly acceptable manner. Maybe slightly flippant, if anything.

I am all for freedom of speech as long as posters don't resort to abusing and insulting. Language is more important to me than the point of discussion. To me, if every thread is derailed then that is an issue. So instead of a seperate forum, we can just shift the OT threads to the one that is specifically for that discussion. I voted "Not Sure" mainly because, I am not sure if it ll work.

when he says loonies he is showering praise and being non-abusive ?
Is that equivalent to calling someone's family in question? Go ahead and call him a moron etc., but yaar thoda to socho that you are in fact abusing someone's mother and father who have probably working hard for their sons throughout their lives. PS : I won't reply further - if you think abusing people's parents on a trivial offense is justified, I really don't want to argue on it.

Disagree. I think we should stick to our stance of zero tolerance towards religion bashing / discussion @ ICF.
Why is religion discussion disallowed without crossing the line of bashing? Many topics we discuss like terrorism and Pakistan and Jihad and linked with religion, so it invariably comes up. For example, the other day, I responded to Mariyam's post with a factual statement about Islam and Mr Outsider got all wound up. If she wanted to dispute that fact, she would have done so and we would have moved on in a civil manner. Most of the time it is mods who creates an unnecessary scene or some out of control poster starts crossing the line. As long people can stay civil, I don't see anything wrong in stating facts about a religion in the context of the discussion in the thread. And if someone objects, mods can always delete those posts, although that is indeed a nuisance.

Hah. Rewind a few years and the creation of this message board was said to be for total free speech and to escape the Bukhaar-esque over-moderation. And yet here we are again. Anyway such a forum exists right now- the Politics one- that is relatively inactive anyway and pretty much all so called controversial topics would come under the politics banner. Perhaps you mods can just choose to unmod it. Personally as long as invective is kept away from Chit Chat- because people (i.e me) use it as a 'chillout' area...

No a realist. becuase I have time and time again unmasked the farcical nature of secularism that is peddled here. funny you should say that .... check the" 70 Jawans killed ..." thread on the politics forum. There are about 500+ posts in that thread not one single abuse by me.
I haven't seen that particular thread but if you haven't, then its very commendable of you to do so in what I would presume to be a very heated discussion. But what I have seen is that uncalled for remark, which IMO was not offensive and could very easily be sidestepped. Even if we assume that all of us are wannabe secularists, then take us apart by argument. If you could show us that the whole concept of secularism is a farce then I bet most of us would listen. Coming back to the topic, if you did use slangs in an elitist, cliquey section where the topics on debate would be even more heated, then the whole situation will go out of hand. Like i said in my 1st post, criticism and bashing are two very different things. I don't see anyone having a problem with the 1st and I dont see anyone deserving a closed forum for the 2nd.

Idea - to be able to discuss anything - is good. The exclusivity part is not needed. Why re-invent the wheel? Reddit is good example to learn from, you should already be able to discuss pretty much anything. If something offends someone on internet, then stay away!, as simple as that. Why should moderators work overtime to take care of individual sentiments? people are supposed to be adults here.
