Should ICF have a separate invitation only forum for a no holds barred discussion?

Should ICF have a separate invitation only forum for a no holds barred discussion?

There are some topics and posts which get 'censored' on the forum due to their provocative nature. In the interest of free speech, should there be a 'hidden' section on ICF where these 'censored' topics can be discussed? This will not be a public forum and will be accessible only by invitation from the site administrators - the generic criteria will be a long time membership, post history, and interest, but the final decision for access will be up to the site administrators. There are pros and cons - on one hand it will provide people to express their views on topics which are not allowed on ICF currently, but at the same time it will create a sort of 'secret society' on the forum. The moderation on the forum will be very lax, and as a general guideline moderators will step in only if/when there is a literal abuse going on between members. Otherwise the moderators role will be restricted to book keeping and only making requests - there will not be any actions which can even remotely be perceived as high handed. The open forums will be subject to the current guidelines - there will not be any change as far as the average ICF member is concerned.

Idea is good, but it can create an elitist, secret society like you say. In the long run, that can color member interactions in open forums. I've seen such things can blow-up based on experience at another place. Try not to have that class difference if possible.

Good idea BUT all members of ICF should be allowed rather than only by invitation from admins. If members are allowed only by invitation then again there will be controversy regarding who is allowed and who is not.

Nice idea.. but please dont allow trolls into the forum. The whole idea should be to keep the discussion civil without anyone losing his/her temper and starting a flame war

We will keep that section free of topics which are allowed in the open forum, so there will be limited things being discussed.

ALL members will not be allowed, but rest assured anyone with over 1000-2000+ posts will not be denied access. If someone feels so strongly about censored topics then let him contribute to ICF before being allowed access to a non mainstream forum.

what about quality over quantity :dontknow: ..I agree with Sree..It would be spammers galore .. Not that people below 1000 posts wont be granted access as per your post :--D

experience may count as well...at least 1 year of membership requirement and over age 21 as the member must have to prove their age before being the member of this forum

I've known spammers - there is no way they can sustain spamming for 2000+ posts - and that number is not determined as of now. It's just a ball park figure I threw out. The ultimate idea is to involve discussions which have sensitive nature, but at the same time eliminating people out to start flame wars.

I am all for a civilised discussion on ICF, devoid of political correctness...

I thought a lot of these issues like religion bashing has been done by people who have been at this forum for a while. :hmmm: Are we saying it is ok to say XYZ is a pedo or call ABC as a monkey or call some as cow piss drinkers or whatever in this "exclusive" forum or would there still be some limits? :nervous:

Basically, yes. The posters will be allowed to use all sorts of slander and abusive language towards any religion (since that's the context of your post).
