More... Gambhir injured, may miss IPL game, WI tour G.S. Vivek May 25, 2011 New Delhi Gautam Gambhir, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and the Indian ODI side for the West Indies tour next month, has an injury in his right shoulder. An MRI scan Tuesday put a question mark on his availability for KKR’s IPL Eliminator against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede tomorrow. The exact nature of the injury is not yet clear. But fears were expressed that Gambhir might have to miss the campaign in the Caribbean. Gambhir got injured during KKR’s last league match against Mumbai at Eden Gardens. To recover, he might require surgery, rehab or plain rest. It is learnt that the injury is similar to that of his opening partner Virender Sehwag’s, who played the World Cup and the IPL despite the discomfort. Should Gambhir miss out, vice-captain Suresh Raina will lead India in the West Indies. The team’s batting, already without Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, will be further depleted. A shoulder injury in 2008 forced Gambhir to miss the away Test series against Australia. He returned for the ODIs, and finished as the highest run-getter.

This is really sad. Hope Gauti recovers in time for the England tour. Will they now ask MSD to lead the team and then take the break for the last 2 ODIs as he initially wanted?

:wall: I said a few times he should have been rested from the ODI in WI, not that it makes any difference now. Yes indeed, thank you friggin IPL. What bets he will put his playing in the WI tests on the line by playing for KKR tomorrow?! I hope its Rahane who takes his place, Virat will be VC.

Mam why are you always tense and dwelling on the negetives of Indian Team (no disrespect to you) we just became World Champions and even if Gauti is not going still we have a good team to win the series over there in Westindies so relax :two_thumbs_up: .
