Chappell was a great player and is outstanding on the technical side of batting. He should be in the academy or work as a batting consultant. He can never be a good head coach. Please have a look at what happened when he was coach of South Australia and what the players said about him. It has nothing to do with India.

They thought if Sachin's place is not safe, no ones is. And look at the way they have delivered. Chappell had a different philosophy, a school of thought which is best suited to rein in renegades. Perhaps he chose the wrong country to coach. Giving credit to Geg is pure insult to Kirsten and our players. No we were playing just as good ... It was Aussies who were really too good at the time... Same Indian team would win world cup even now. We were a force in South Africa... Earlier i used to think he was just an aussie who intentionally came to sc*** our cricket. CSK Fan Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 When he took over, he was confronted with out-of-form seniors (and I don't want to name them), who thought just because they scored runs in the past year, it is fair for them to fail and no coach should be questioning their seniority. . Or, they( the seniors) were genuinely suffering from inuries and loss of form and needed all the support and encouragement they needed to come of the bad phase but instead were threatened and discouraged. They got this from Kirsten who had nothing but praise for them whenever he made a stattement, and in turn they delivered An atmosphere of fear and uncertainity is the worst thing for any team in any arena. Contrast that with the almost family like atmosphere currently existing in the dressing room where seniors and junior all have equal credit and are all praise for each other
