gaurav92 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Make it 9-2 by including the two Champions Trophy matches (which actually knocked us out of those tournaments). 2004 ICC Champions Trophy : Ind 200 all out – Pak 201/7 A great match. We were without Sachin and Zak, were going through a rough time having lost an earlier ODI series to England and a loss to Pakistan in Holland. Despite initial hiccups, we did well to reach 200 thanks to Dravid's knock of 67 and a useful 47 by Lord Aggy. Then Pathan rocked the Pakistani top order and we reduced them to 150/6 at one stage. Youhana played a masterly knock to take Pakistan home. Afridi also contributed by hitting some lusty blows in a little cameo of 25 in 12 balls. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/66207.html 2009 ICC Champions Trophy : Pakistan 302/9 – India 248 all out One of the most talked about matches. The relations between the two countries had reached a nadir post the 26/11 attacks. There was a huge build up to the match. We though suffered blows ahead of tournament by losing Sehwag, Yuvraj and Zaheer to injuries. Dravid was called back. Our bowlers started well by keeping the score in check, reduced Pakistan to 65/3 in 15 overs, but then inexplicably, in one of the most bizzarre moves of his captaincy career, MSD bowled Kohli and Pathan to the new batsmen Malik and Yousuf. Both of them took their time to settle down and once set ran our bowlers crazy through some deft stroke play. The spinners kept bowling short and the duo kept cutting them through the deep point and thrid man for 4s. MSD never plugged that loop. In the end Pakistan crossed 300 which at that time looked 25-30 runs more than what they should have managed. At the start of the chase we lost Sachin to Aamir, Gauti and RD and later on Raina kept us in the game. At one stage we were 203/4 in 33 overs, needing 100 runs in 96 balls with 6 wickets in hand. Not to be, Raina was given LBW depsite an inside edge, Pathan crumbled under pressure and it was soon all over. http://www.espncricinfo.com/iccct2009/engine/match/415278.html Its about India's dominance only :dontknow:
saneindian Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Its about India's dominance only :dontknow: Also talks about "critical ODIs" and I do belive those 2 CT matches fall under that category.
gaurav92 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 ^Fair enough :nice: But in the 09 CT Match, we were thoroughly outplayed. Apart from Raina's controversial LBW, there wasn't much to complain, Dravid was awful in that game, first running Gautam Gambhir out and then putting too much pressure on Raina to hit the boundaries. He clearly struggled to get the cheery away to the fence. :((
saneindian Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Champions trophy LOL. Its the UEFA Cup of Cricket. ICC Champions Trophy>> T20 WC. Comeon man, give them some credit. We do own them in critical matches, but don't make it look like a total whitewash :winky:
gaurav92 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 To me CT is even more exciting than the group stages of the World Cup. At least we get to see some good competitive Cricket. World Cup begins only after the Group Stages are over. (i.e in the knockouts)

Inflicted pain of a lifetime to our friends.

gaurav92 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 ^Wasn't a big match as such :hahaha: Th point is, we defeat them in games of utmost importance - Asia Cup game in 2010, World Cup win and they defeat us in pointless games most of the time :hehe:, Asia Cup Game 08, Kitply Cup Final etc :phehehe:

I was being sarcastic

Defeat in that match would have left me depressed for months. However we fair against Pakistan in big matches in the next 50 years i will always be thankful that we triumphed at Mohali.
