It should be very easy to unlock for a pro. And this is not first time being nice has backfired. He did it because its fun pissing people off.

All it takes is just one guy to jump the queue to rush to the counter to start a near-stampede. Apart from missing Mariyam's joke, you making wrong statement also. Instead of saying "Average people are nice and decent", you should have said that "people at an average behave in nice and decent manner". No person is permanently nice and decent and no one is permanently opposite of that. But if there are no compulsions or or any other kind of vested interests, people will always behave in nice and decent manner. In between, Akshay you got title of thread all wrong. No where you were being nice to anybody, you were just doing your best to save your interests :dontknow:

Too many people are taking title too literally and continue repeating the same thing! I know it was very small incident. I happened to post it because there have been a series of mis-haps through the week. And I happened to be active on ICF when I was recapping things and this was on the top of the stack, in terms of freshness. Also this one was which I found most surprising. I am surprised to see many people here are surprised - how can one park a car outside!!. Are all of you NRI or all of you stay in Ambani empire? Come on it is not uncommon in India. At least not in Bangalore. Except for the apartments, most of the independent houses here do not have sufficient parking space. I live in once such rented house, and I have been parking it outside for at least 6 years! Also, this was not the first time I parked in others' locality. Many times when I have to go in crowded part of Bangalore, I park my car in that locality and take an auto. And I always make sure it is not blocking the street or anyone's gate. So, it was something I never anticipated. Trying to steal/damaging car was the worst I expected. That is it. (Almost forgot my signature(brackets)).

How could you leave your car :headshake: Thats what - if you are one of those mean guys, you wouldn't bother about such things. You would end up with one extra trick up your sleeve :). Also, once again for those - who keep reminding - it was not a case of being nice. Yes, I know and already accepted my bad choice of words. Btw I have had my share of that kind of cases too. And of course when I was pleasantly surprised ( too few of this kind though). I liked what DomainK said - "...as long as you know when you stop being nice". Also, IMO, logical/analytic post of the thread goes to Mariyam - I should have informed that house owner and requested him to keep a watch. That would have ruled out the current 'conspiracy theory' of some one from that house trying to be miscreant.

The proponents of the conspiracy theory would simply say " After you inform the owner of the house to have a look at your car, you wouldn't expect any mischief from his end. I don't know about Bangalore, but I never leave my car unattended in a non parking place for more than 5 minutes. If I've to visit someone's home, I would tell the watchman/gatekeeper that I'm parking my car outside the compound and that its his responsibility. Or hand them over some money and ask him to get it cleaned. :P And If I have to a crowded locality , either I find a paid parking or I don't take the car at all. Parking on the road is a strict no no. Also 9:30 might be late by Bangalore standards, but In Mumbai/Delhi, as Aaku said, you would find many mechanics. Best to call your friends who stay close by. Or your family mechanic. The only time I left my car unattended was during the 26/7 rains in 2005.I was returning home from college and all the roads ahead were submerged. I wasn't too far from home ( 3-4kms) and parked the car on the slope of a flyover. Collected the car after 3 days.I could do it without much hesitation as I used to drive a khatara those days, and I purposely parked it around the more valuable cars. :P This was just a few months after I started driving. Baptism by fire :D
