We can also park private jets wherever we play. When abroad, they can be used to threaten withrawing from the tour until the umpire is replaced. When at home, the umpire in question can be asked to feck off in that plane

Tendulkar would have been gone for all money had the DRS being used. It's high time we realize it works both ways.
So? What you want is that you want our batsman to get out to a fair decision rather than an absolutely wrong one. That has to be the mentality

There has been no UDRS for 100+ years and Test cricket is fine. Not having UDRS for another 4-5 years wouldn't make a difference.

So that's a good enough reason? Batsmen didn't wear helmets for 70+ years and test cricket was fine. Why would you not want something that aids decision making?

I think a simple solution is to remove it from the hands of the players. The 3rd umpire can see the instant replay and since the system is designed to eliminate howlers, a decent umpire only needs 30 seconds really with replays to detect a howler. This is about the time it takes for a bowler to walk back to their mark and definitely less time than a batsman takes to walk off the field. In that time the 3rd umpire can overrule the decision. You could even set a time limit of 30 seconds on it. If the 3rd umpire can't decide in 30 seconds, then clearly it wasn't a howler and the original decision stays. Simple solution!

I want the process that aids decision making to be sorted out first - too much confusion currently! The DRS gives AIDS rather the aids the decision making.
