Why are there so many CSK players in Indian team ?

Rahane is the only genuine contender that was left out. He was left out because he was not an opener. Similarly Badrinath was ignored for long time. If you are good you will get your chance.

Dude, like I have said consistently, this is like the past where selectors from Bombay kept selecting players from Bombay to represent India, over good players from the South. Now that South has its man at the helm, they are returning the favour. And in this situation, it is the player that suffers, no matter which side of the country he's from.
This is imagined regional bias. Chennai players are there because they have done in FC and List A, and selectors feel there is potential - this is our B side remember? If they dont display the temperament to succeed at the international level, they will be out soon enough.

If they have done well and seem to deserve their places' date=' why are they struggling?[/quote'] Some players dont have the temperament to succeed at the International level. Do you mean to tell me TN players are the only ones who do well at the regional level but fail to succeed in International matches?

FYI, even God doesn't deserve a place over Badri. That guy is a friggin advertisement for every kid wanting to play for India.

No. Their frequency is the highest.

I don't think you are going to be persisted if you suck at what you do. Most probably this is Badri's last tour. Probably Mukund's as well. Vijay might get benefit of doubt as he has had some good outings in Tests. He is not a total failure per se.

Sad thing is pretty much everyone is bad compared to our yester year players. We are not going to see Azharuddin blazing in with 3 back to back centuries. It is just we are going to pick players based on the fact he is less worse than his contenders.

I feel like crying looking at some of the names who could fill the batting line up. Nothing pisses me off more than our batsmen looking inept against fast bowling and the short ball. We've got rid of that with our star line up over the past decade but you can be sure that people will start the same crap again. I've heard it for so many years.

We ran into Sehwag by chance. Hope we run into some other player by chance.

Whatever happened to those frequent team A international tours that BCCI was supposed to arrange?!?

They need to arrange more A tours. Even supposedly good batsmen look out of depth due to lack of exposure in first class games. Those who are good in first class look out of depth in Tests.

No one - not even on this thread- comes up with genuine credible alternatives for the CSK/TN players in the side who are there due to bias. Also there is no argument against the fact that they are there on merit. Whether they deserve to remain in the side is now open to question, but they deserved this shot- Mukund, Vijay and Badri.

1 great player won't be enough if the rest are mugs. We've been lucky in recent years to have so many brilliant players in the same team. Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Kumble would all arguably make our all-time test 11. Zaheer is one of our finest seamers as well.

Just as a proviso to my last post- Rahane, but he is not really an opener Im guessing is their logic, hes a no3/4. And they have a point, Mukund has the more established career as opening bat and Badri has been superb in Ranji over the years both deserve this shot.
