tatters Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 As a big fan of Kohli, I'm disappointed he's left out but it's not exactly undeserved. This series was going to be a battle between Kohli and Raina. Sehwag/Mukund Gambhir Dravid Tendulkar x Laxman Dhoni x was going to be filled by Raina, Kohli or Yuvraj. Yuvraj was favourite, and he still is. Raina or Kohli had to really impress in the Windies to get picked above Yuvraj. Now it's a choice between Raina and Yuvraj. Raina has done well but he will need a big innings in the third test to stand a chance, in my opinion.
Sooda Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Pretty odd that the squad was selected during a test match.
Sachin=GOD Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Also, WHY SREESANTH :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Can't we get this guy to have his head checked before selecting him to the national team again and again :D
jaggadaku Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Good to see selectors going with genuine WC instead of part timer pappu patel
SachDan Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Also' date=' WHY SREESANTH :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:[/quote'] lhQMbjlsVNE With little bit of help from the pitch, he can be as deadly as any Indian bowler in test cricket
Sid Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Good to see selectors going with genuine WC instead of part timer pappu patel :dito:
Andy Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Saha ??? bechaare PaPa ne kya galti kari hai?? A Wicket Keeper's primary job is to collect the balls.
tatters Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 With little bit of help from the pitch' date=' he can be as deadly as any Indian bowler in [u']test cricket Harbhajan, Zaheer, Sreesanth, Ishant Sharma, Yuvraj (part-time 5th bowler)...sounds like as good a bowling line-up as we've had for a while. It's obviously not great but it'll do damage in England.
The Outsider Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Harbhajan' date=' Zaheer, Sreesanth, Ishant Sharma, [b']Yuvraj (part-time 5th bowler)...sounds like as good a bowling line-up as we've had for a while. It's obviously not great but it'll do damage in England. There is no way Yuvraj is going to start ahead of Raina at least for the first 2-3 tests.
The Outsider Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Wonder on what basis PaPa has been dropped. He did fairly well in the ODIs and hasnt played a test on the tour! Perhaps the selectors woke up from their dream and realized Parthiv is still a goalkeeper.
tatters Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 There is no way Yuvraj is going to start ahead of Raina at least for the first 2-3 tests. I disagree. Unless Raina scores a hundred in the next Test or really impresses, I think Yuvraj is in. For the record, I would pick Raina too, but I have a feeling the selectors will go with Yuvraj because he brings an intimidating presence. He might not have established himself on the Test stage but he is still a big name and he'll look to play as a genuine all-rounder.
George Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Is there any chance A Mishra will in Playing 11 in any of test matches?
George Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 RP singh would have been better choice than Munaf Patel
Sidhoni Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 KKD should have been selected ahead of Saha,Yuvi will have to bowl well. My XI for Lord's :- Gauti Mukund Wall Goddy Laxman Raina/Yuvi Dhoni Bhajji Zaheer Sree/PK Ishant
Sachin=GOD Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 With little bit of help from the pitch, he can be as deadly as any Indian bowler in test cricket He may give us one sublime spell in the entire series but the rest of the time he will be his usual self - leaking plenty of runs and trying to show his acting skills on the cricket field.
VRV Singh Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Agree with this squad on the whole. Selectors have made the right moves. Parthiv should have solely been considered as an opening bat, can't afford to have a joker behind the stumps in such conditions. Vijay should have phucked off months ago...no offence.. Kohli has had a rude awakening in WI. Work to be done. Yuvi is a bit of a stop-gap...maybe he is picked to bowl at KP :giggle:
