It's similar to Pakis comparing the likes of Sami and their "tailunted phaaast bowlers" just coz they can bowl fast. And the sad part is these guys, especially Umesh, don't look threatening and Umesh was taken apart by Zim.
daryl1985 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 stuart broad was taken apart by for six 6s by uv and then by netherland when eng lost to netherland , does that make him very threatening ? other than anderson the rest of the english bowlers are pathetic they play on much more helpful tracks and still cant get wickets consistently even anderson bowls well only in helpful conditions yes comparing rookies to int cricketer is probably wrong but is it that difficult even for rookies to upstage bowlers like tremlett, bresnann ,finn or stuart broad ,it is not like they are like steyn or lee or something How many of today's bowlers are good in unhelpful conditions? Anderson has been one of the best bowlers in the world in the last 2-3 years. Tremlett has been superb since being recalled to the national fold and Steve Finn is raw and expensive but is a genuine wicket taker. I admit Stuart Broad is struggling at the moment and has been taken apart in the past but at the same time we have people on this forum championing Umesh Yadav (the man who was taken apart against Zimbabwe).

No complaints about Ishant as he genuinely looked fast and was clocking 140+ regularly against WI.

Zaheer Khan, who is perhaps in the last 2 years of his international career, after 10 years or so in international cricket, is still bowling generally at 80 to 87 mph or 129 to 140 kph. Mithun generally bowls between 79 to 88 mph or 127kph to 142kph. It is pathetic of you to select either their slowest or absurd bowling speeds in an attempt to belittle them. Grow up.

express bowling Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I think this thread was aimed at finding how many genuine quick bowlers India has in its domestic cricket circuit, and the exciting proposition that might unfold if 2 or 3 such bowlers turn out to be good enough at International level. Further, if we come to know which other ountry has how many genuine quicks ( without overstation their pace or picking up one freak delivery ) it would be great. Comparing uncapped players with bowlers actually playing currently, in whatever country, serves no purpose. The current English pace lineup is definitely competent and generally fast-medium pacewise, neither express nor trundlers. I am eagerly waiting to learn more about the prospective quicks and the pace they bowl at. Please remember that in many domestic matches the speed gun, for whatever reason, gives readings whih are around 5 to 7 kph slower than the international speed guns.

Outside perspectives are most welcome but please be factual and don't trash all Indian players blindly if you have any remote wish to be taken seriously. You can say that Praveen Kumar is a trundler and I will agree with you. But if you say that Zaheer is a trundler then that is a wrong fact. He bowls between 130k to 140 k generally and that is classified as fast-medium, neither a trundler nor express but somewhere inbetween.

Wait till all these guys play for the country first for a season, let alone play for the country together.

We would love to have an outsiders opinion if that makes sense but with u it's certainly not the case.If u say that praveen is a trundler I'll 1000% agree with u.But Ishant,Umesh & Aaron are known to generate express pace.I know the later two still have to go a long way before they can be a regular part of the national team.But they are only very young so they've time on their side to do that.It's their pace which is really exciting & we hope they sustain that for a longer period of time.But today in world cricket if they play together their average speed will be the fastest among all countries.
