The worst thing about his selection is that at 28 and having played for India he is not exactly emerging. Pankaj, Tyagi, Unadkat, Abdullah Varun, B Bhatt

Our selectors didn't even know the format of the tournament.

Srinivasan has actually got some t20 matches included in the schedule it seems! This is from the OP This year, the format has changed and we have the T20 games followed by the three-day matches. We have told the authorities in Australia to make the T20 games as competitive outings and not friendly ties.

Considering that the selectors would have selected the hardworking Pankaj Singh and the ever reliable Vinay Kumar for the longer formats is this a blessing in disguise....?

A lot of focus on Srikkanth Jr there but there are a few crappy selections in the squad bearing in mind the format of the tourno. There was an article by Sharda stating that they did not know the format- hence the prevalence of ltd overs players. In a way it is reassuring if it is sheer dumbness and they do not think Aravind and Sharma etc are long term test players.

Umesh yadav and Varun Aaron...good attack that. lets see who performs better. Will be a handy when 2015 WC comes around to have another quickie besides Ishant.
i would put my money on Varun being better than Umesh ...

Young stars leave today. Shikhar Dhawan’s young India side will leave for Australia on Sunday to take part in a high-quality Emerging Players Tournament, confident of giving a good account of itself and determined to carry its cricketing education forward. The team suffered twin blows even before departure with Karnataka left-arm seamer S Arvind and Punjab leg-spinner Rahul Sharma being ruled out through injuries. They have been replaced by Jaidev Unadkat, who made his Test debut in Centurion last December, and Baroda left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt, who was the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy season gone by. "Arvind has a side strain and Rahul has an injury in his disc,” coach Bharat Arun said. “But I am confident about the two bowlers who have come in. As a coach, you have to be prepared for change in personnel and I have also told the squad that it is the team that wins the championship and not individual players. “If they back their intent with effort, this bunch of players will do well," the former Indian paceman added. "The camp went well, we achieved everything we wanted out of it,” he went on. “The boys understand that this tour could be their next big step towards the Indian team." Unlike in previous editions, this year’s competition is a three-day affair in Townsville also involving Australian Institute of Sport, South Africa and New Zealand. Earlier, the tournament was a limited-overs affair with matches of the Twenty20 and 50-over versions. “We have to give it out best,” added Arun, whose wards will play a Twenty20 competition prior to the Emerging Players Tournament. Karnataka are well represented by Manish Pandey, CM Gautam and R Vinay Kumar. Team:   Shikhar Dhawan (capt), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-capt), Anirudha Srikkanth, Manish Pandey, Saurabh Tiwary, Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Menaria, CM Gautam, Ambati Rayudu, Bhargav Bhatt, Iqbal Abdulla, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, R Vinay Kumar, Jaidev Unadkat. Coach: Bharat Arun. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/178632/young-stars-leave-today.html
