What Pitches Do we need?

In India,do we need turners or fast bouncy pitches or are we satisfied with roads? If you say sporting pitches,please explain what do you mean by sporting.

Mohali type pitch. It assists seamers, spinners and batsmen who are willing to apply themselves. In test matches, bowlers don't have to wait till 4th and 5th day to get help from the pitches in Mohali.

While sporting pitches are always great, I would also prefer pitches which would sport a certain type like : swing or bounce or spin. It tests a bowling attack to it's limits.

Well, we should have pitches that suit us, whatever Dhoni ect want they should be given. But since the rest of the world feel its a crime when we do that we create pitches that support Steyn getting 7-50 or whatever he got at Nagpur.

we should go for bouncy pitches, where the ball bounces somewhere between the knee and hip level of the batsmen.

Traditionally Indian pitches are flat on first 3 days and after crumbling on 4th and 5th day it helps spinners. This pitch of Chennai was not so. First it stayed intact for all 5 days. Second, it was not a flat track. Spinner got the help from the pitch on first day. I remember that in this match Australia were cruising till lunch. After a century opening partnership, last 7-8 wickets fell for 50 runs. One can't say that it was completely bowling friendly. Those batsman who applied themselves better scored runs. Sehwag and Martyn both got good hundreds. This is can be called a good sporting track where you get rewarded for good bowling and good batting. But if you are not good, then you fail. On flat tracks, bowlers toil hard and despite bowling good they get nothing. Same happens with batsman on completely bowling track.

I like pitches with decent/good bounce .... something where a batsman is not looking to just go on the front foot

I would create turners every time in India ,lets see if the poms and aussies will consider it a sporting pitch.
