Thats a pretty good commentry team. Though I will miss Benaud and Lawry. Last time aroudn we recieved channel 9 coverage in U.S and it was great.
gult Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I think Star's line up is as follows - Shastri (contracted to BCCI) Gavaskar (contracted to BCCI) Bhogle (semi with Star and I think but not sure, semi with BCCI) Manjrekar (Star) Elder Slipper (Star) Wilkins (Star) Edit - forgot Waz (Star) Second Edit - So Shastri and Gavaskar will do commentating for Sky as well since they are BCCI's commentators. If Harsha does it too then you can be sure that Harsha is also contracted by BCCI. Would love to see either Sky or Star invite Botham/Elder Slipper and get those two to do the commentary for about 30 minutes. Finally we'll know who went flying and who was given a mouthful Who is this elder slipper?

Recall the WC semis and he was discussing Wahab Riaz (who was bowling well and would take 5 wickets eventually) with Wasim - he pointed out that Wahab can't yet bring the ball in to the right hander when bowling over the wicket, something Wasim was a master at.

Yes it will" is almost as bad as Siva's "he is strong square of the wicket on the off side"....:facepalm: Watch the highlights of the WC and see how often he says the same thing. :cantstop:

When was the last time we heard an insight from shastri or bhogle?

I actually like Ganguly's commentary.Very insightful though in a drab voice. The thing about commentary is that if you cannot add anything,dont say it (Beneaud) And Cricket Tragic, Siva's most famous lines are usually variations of elevations and distance.:winky: --Hes got the elevation,but not the distance -Hes got the distance, but not the elevation -Hes got distance and he has got the elevation blah blah

Always have been of the opinion that if you havent played the game at the highest level,you have no business being in the commentary box.Just feels hollow.
