saneindian Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I am not so sure about Lords coz Its not often that Sachin scores a 100 in the first test of a series' date= that too an away series. But given that we’re playing 4 tests and at least 2 of them should be on good batting conditions, the odds are that he will end up scoring his 100th 100, this summer. Did that in two of his last series outside Asia, vs SA 111* in the 2nd innings at Centurion in 2010 and 160 vs NZ at Hamilton in 2009. BTW has scored 100s in the 1st test of an away series on many other occasions too, 1996 England tour, hit a 122 in the first test at Birmingham (One of his most underrated innings), a 155 in the 1st test in 2001 SA series, 194* at Multan in 2004 etc. In total has scored 18 100s in the 1st test of a series, 9 at home, 9 away (but 3 of them vs Bangladesh). http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35320.html?class=1;match_number=1;template=results;type=batting;view=innings
Cricket Tragic Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Yeah, it's actually Laxman who takes time to get going in a series.
Ram Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Did that in two of his last series outside Asia, vs SA 111* in the 2nd innings at Centurion in 2010 and 160 vs NZ at Hamilton in 2009. Well, that was an EPIC FAIL.
saneindian Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I knew I had to be careful with you around to fact-check my posts. Well, that was an EPIC FAIL. No worries! Lets hope and pray Sach does reach the landmark at Lord's. There cannot be a bigger and better setting for this grand milestone in cricket.
daryl1985 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Swann is giving interviews left, right and centre as if he can run through line ups. In gully cricket played in India,if he tosses the ball up like that without the doosra or any variations it would go rocketing out of the park. Alright Javed Miandad, calm down.
Captain of Bhangra Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Not sure about Lords, but he should get it at some stage on this tour. Remember last time India toured? when he kept getting out in the 90s?!!
Captain of Bhangra Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Bad news Swanny. His number 99 was on 12th march 2011, about four and a half months ago. The no. 100 is coming up this week. I remember number 98 on 27th Feb. A certain bowler got clobbered for a few sixes in that one...
Midfielder Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I think he will take six or seven overs of Swann bowling to get this one. Running his mouth meaninglessly.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Can't say Swann said anything wrong... it's a pretty general statement, i.e., "I/We hope player A will not be as successful in the series and hope he doesn't score too many against us". Swann echoed a similar sentiment. After all you can't expect him to say "We know Tendulkar will score at least 2 tons this series but we need to ensure he doesn't get more than 2"
King Tendulkar Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Did that in two of his last series outside Asia, vs SA 111* in the 2nd innings at Centurion in 2010 and 160 vs NZ at Hamilton in 2009.
