PK opening the bowling against a top test side! homer-simpson-facepalm.jpg No speed, doesn't pitch up that much, friendly swing which a top test batsmen should be able to handle .... can he reverse when the ball gets old (probably not with his pace)? .... Seems not that good when bowling to left handers (why can't he come around the wkts to lefties? Is Strauss going to nick something pitching on middle-leg and swinging away? .... Ok finally comes around the wkt) Appears as if if India would pick someone like Ganguly as a bowler over Sree Hopefully PK would prove me wrong and gets 3-4 wkts .... but anytime someone wants to start a thread like 'why Ind doesn't produce fast bowlers' remember what we do to guys like Sree. We try to tone done the aggression and try to turn him into a PK type of bowler

Shows how much cricket you know. All the commentators are all praise for him, he has been beating the batsmen cosistantly and is unlucky not to get any wickets. India has kept it so tight building the pressure all the time, He was as good as Zak but hey lets bring the 'pace' part because thats all I know about bowling

Praveen Kumar has been very tight, beating the bat and bowling better and better. Maybe you'll remember the last time Sreesanth bowled in Lord's at the start of the series where he was horrible and completely leaked runs in his new spell. So yeah, Praveen is bowling much better than SreeDonkey.

ofc he is unlucky :hysterical: .... wow, he is beating the bat. what a bowler .... all the commentators are all praise, what a gem of a move by India yeah, we need to build pressure in a test (first session, overcast conditions, Eng looking to build partnership) so that the rate Eng needs to score at goes up. And if a wkt falls, other batsmen will have to play quickly and not have much time to settle down Following test cricket doesn't that more foolish than from folks like you who have it them to tell others how much they know abt cricket :giggle:

Just heard a news that Sreesanth has applied for priesthood in Shri Padmanabha Swami temple..
If a bowler like PK gets picked over someone who can bowl quicker, swing and reverse, he might just do that :haha:

The only thing PK has been guilty of is not getting his line right often enough and making them play, but the swing is great and he is offering a lot more control than Sree ever would. We need a wicket soon, ideally Strauss, or the sun will come out and it will be easier to bat

Test cricket is about these windows where conditions favor you somewhat more. Be it the first hour, or at the end even the ball tends to reverse, when the batsmen are new at the crease, etc .... a fielding side has to go all out for wkts in this windows .... If you don't have very good bowlers in your ranks, then you need wildcards like Sree, who can possibly turn the game in these windows If you bowl to keep tight in these windows, you are missing a few tricks .... and ofc that not good TEST cricket

The batsmen have been really lucky to miss the edges. I dont eeven know what you are talking about

Listen to me very carefully. He has beaten the bat a zillion time already. There is nothing more that a bowler can do. There is no evidence that Sree could have done any better except leak more runs. You are just making an absolute tool of yourself without any reason You picked on PK's pace, but if he is good enough to beat batsmen regularly, clearly pace is not the issue here. And seriously with post like the OP, do you wonder if people bring your cricketing knowledge into question? you are just asking for it

That is in part the problem with Sree- his wildcardness- he is a bit too inconsistent. Errgin on the profligate side a bit often and the matchwinning side not often enough. He had a fine tour of SA though and was unfortunate that injury possibly disrupted his rhythm a bit. From what I read about the warm up match he bowled short and wide too often vs Somerset. Praveen is not bowling to keep it tight, it sounds like the batters are struggling to get bat on ball!! Look this is PKs 4 th test of his career, he would never have faced, or bowled in anyway, conditions like this, so the lack of an ideal line is understandable. Sree would have got smashed around, as someone above pointed out, all the pressure Zak puts on batsmen would have got released.

9 overs, 4 maidens!, just 18 runs .... what a great piece of economical bowling that built pressure on Eng In the first session, Ind gave away only 2 runs per over and beat the bat on 12 occassions so the session belongs to them .... Not Eng, who lost just 1 wkts .... So what rate Eng has to go at now to be considered to be in a good position. Eng would have to pick up the rate, no? * :hysterical: *

From Cricinfo "Re. Praveens pace," starts Owen Morris, "any club cricketer will tell you that the most annoying bowlers to face on English wickets are the ones that trott up and drop it on the spot at the speed of an asmatic snail. Military medium seems a lot more effective in England than most places in the world."

Unless you can provide any evidence that Sree could have done any better, you are making yourself a laughing stock. clearly Ishant hasnt done any better, nor did Zaheer before his wicket. So you are picking on a player playing his 4th test who has done really well. Sree's figures 9 over 45 runs, 0 wickets. Am sure you would have preffered that. Did you follow the last England-Sri Lanka test series. If you had, you would see that teams would reach such positions by lunch before collapsing. Its just one session, cheer up, its test cricket not T20

Someone who can turn the game in a session .... If bowling like what some folks have discussed here would be considered good in 'tests', we would have soon be having guys like Ganguly opening the bowling. There is a reason why guys who bowl quick, swing and reverse are rated higly in tests .... giving 10-15 more runs in pursuit of wkts, esp in the first session, is not a bad option at all .... let's not forget that picking wkts puts the most pressure

^Stop living in an imaginary world! Sree is not a magician and has failed horribly many a times. It's not like he is wasim akram of India and not getting picked.
