zen Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Unless you can provide any evidence that Sree could have done any better, you are making yourself a laughing stock. clearly Ishant hasnt done any better, nor did Zaheer before his wicket. So you are picking on a player playing his 4th test who has done really well. Sree's figures 9 over 45 runs, 0 wickets. Am sure you would have preffered that. Did you follow the last England-Sri Lanka test series. If you had, you would see that teams would reach such positions by lunch before collapsing. Its just one session, cheer up, its test cricket not T20 That's acceptable risk, which guys like you don't seem to understand .... there is not much difference b/w 40 for 1 in "first session" or 70 for 1, what matters the most is the wkts column Unless you don't understand that there is no point in folks like you posting on threads like these. You are free to start what a magnificent spell by India (and PK). I wouldn't even bother posting on such threads :winky:
CG Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Praveen Kumar has been very tight, beating the bat and bowling better and better. Maybe you'll remember the last time Sreesanth bowled in Lord's at the start of the series where he was horrible and completely leaked runs in his new spell. So yeah, Praveen is bowling much better than SreeDonkey. Yes mate you are right but by writting the way you are proves either you are a kid or a donkey
Karan114 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 That is in part the problem with Sree- his wildcardness- he is a bit too inconsistent. Errgin on the profligate side a bit often and the matchwinning side not often enough. He had a fine tour of SA though and was unfortunate that injury possibly disrupted his rhythm a bit. From what I read about the warm up match he bowled short and wide too often vs Somerset. Praveen is not bowling to keep it tight' date=' it sounds like the batters are struggling to get bat on ball!! Look this is PKs 4 th test of his career, he would never have faced, or bowled in anyway, conditions like this, so the lack of an ideal line is understandable. Sree would have got smashed around, as someone above pointed out, all the pressure Zak puts on batsmen would have got released.[/quote'] Entirely agree. Praveen was a good choice and there is no reason to think Sreesanth would have done any better. Even when he occasionally produces match winning performances, its more down to his own state of mind rather than conditions - e.g. the Kanpur game on a road.
zen Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 ^Stop living in an imaginary world! Sree is not a magician and has failed horribly many a times. It's not like he is wasim akram of India and not getting picked. The point is he is more of a test bowler than someone like PK :winky:
King Tendulkar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Clearly the OP has not watched the seesion and followed it by briefly looking at cricnfo. It is possible for bolwers to bowl well but not get any luck i.e hit the edge. PKs spell was a point in case.
CSK Fan Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 That's acceptable risk, which guys like you don't seem to understand .... there is not much difference b/w 40 for 1 in "first session" or 70 for 1, what matters the most is the wkts column Unless you don't understand that there is no point in folks like you posting on threads like these. I wouldn't even bother posting on such threads :winky: But PK has ALWAYS taken early wickets whether in ODIs or in the 3 tests he played. This si the only time he went wicketless and I would say he was unlucky. So your claims of him being their to contain and not to take wickets is false. I would give the benifit of doubt to PK as to me, he is a wicket taking bowler and today missed some wickets by whiskers So again, where is the evidence that Sree would have performed better and taken more wickets?
Show_stopper Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Like Ganguly said it looks awesome but it really isn't. English batsmen are a lot more used to swing than their WI counterparts. They are comfortably playing Praveen off the backfoot even when the ball is pitched up. Tough times ahead for PK.
CSK Fan Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Rett, can you get one person, who has seen the match today, to agree with you that PK was not unlcukcy today and is not a wicket taking bowler? You just followed the match on cricinfo I presume. there is no evidence that Sree wouldnt have been equally unlucky

I guess none. So we just have to settle for the next best bet.

Show_stopper Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Do we actually have a bowler that can beat any England player with pace. I guess none. So we just have to settle for the next best bet. That doesn't mean we have to go in for the slowest option available either just beacuse the said option moves the ball 3-4 inches more.
div Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 That doesn't mean we have to go in for the slowest option available either just beacuse the said option moves the ball 3-4 inches more. and his ODI average is 34-35:haha:
Jersey #10 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 The point is he is more of a test bowler than someone like PK :winky: Well, I can fly in the sky like the birds but can't provide an evidence/proof to back it up. would you believe me?
CG Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Well' date=' I can fly in the sky like the birds but can't provide an evidence/proof to back it up. would you believe me?[/quote'] if you are saying pk is better than sree in test cricket then :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: he won you the 2nd test against sa in 2 innings and got a five wicket hall in the third test, bowled well in 2nd test vs australia, got 5 wickets in his comeback test against srilanka, he may not be match fit then we should have gone for munaf as atleast he can bowl with the old ball.
Show_stopper Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Another point to consider is that PK's selection has deprived Ishant of the new ball. Really couldcome back to bite us. We all know what happened the last time Ishant bowled first change in SA.
Jersey #10 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 if you are saying pk is better than sree in test cricket then :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: It's futile to make a comparison between the two just yet. PK has played only 3 tests while Sree has 24. If you still wanna compare then PK has an average of 21 in Tests while Sree has an average of 35.

Fontaine Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 From Cricinfo: There were regular plays and misses, especially when Praveen bowled to Strauss. In a spell that read 9-4-18-0, he beat Strauss's edge six times, and thrice the edges didn't go to hand. When the hell did Sreesanth EVER bowl an opening spell like this with the new ball? But we can certainly look back to Sreesanth's opening spell when he bowled against England in Lord's the last time: Sreesanth: 6 Overs, 0 maidens, 35 runs, 7 Fours, 0 wickets. Praveen: 9-4-18-0 Sreesanth must be crying in the dressing room.
