anotherhawkeye Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 May be it's time to groom a new WK/Batsman and a new captain for tests. I love Dhoni in one dayers and t20s, but tests...he is becoming a liability there.
Andy Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Can anyone tell me' date='what this has to do with Dhoni's batting.[/quote'] He winz IPL with batting alone.
cameron_black Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 dhoni's mindset and technique isn't even remotely suitable for the longest format of the game. we all saw how he struggled against WI on sporty tracks, and now this. he should only play on indian flatbeds.
Blue Panther Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Poor guy, he is from ranchi and without proper coaching or technique. He will come back harder. We know what he did in the wc final. Lets wait.
anotherhawkeye Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 dhoni has been in a slump for last year. That world cup final performance was a one off. Right, in every WC match leading up to the final, he was a failure. It was mainly Raina and UV and GG and SRT who got us the WC with Dhoni stealing the show in the finals.
achilles Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 saha will score single digits as well should have taken dinesh karthik or parthiv patel (latter's keeping is ordinary) Finey, Karthik's career has to a large extent been sabotaged.
yoda Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 he is a huge problem, we just have to assume we have a keeper who simply can't bat and does ok keeping. the guy doesn't seem to have any intentions of fixing his style or playing more responsibly than just poking at everything.
Stuge Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 lot was expected from him but he made a mess of it :(
Blue Panther Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Right' date=' in every WC match leading up to the final, he was a failure. It was mainly Raina and UV and GG and SRT who got us the WC with Dhoni stealing the show in the finals.[/quote'] Lets not jump on this poor guy, he knows he is not batting at his best. He will come back harder.
Sachinism Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 lot was expected from him but he made a mess of it :( We could've really put serious pressure on England with 130 odd lead on the board. Now this lead can easily be knocked off with a bit of luck and we could end up on the backfoot very quickly
veer Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 boy.. feel sorry for Dravid. the guy is a legend... ability to grind is unbelievable..
vipin Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Someone should just hang him upside down with his face in a tub of water. Until we are done with this tour. He can shoot ads like this in the meantime.
achilles Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 He winz IPL with batting alone. Looking back actually, he hasn't performed in IPL as well. :P
ilikecric Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This is what a bit of fame in ODIs in batting friendly conditions does to improve the reputation of the player. Dhoni has always been a sitting duck against swing and will continue to be, unless he improves his technique. Even, if he scores a fifty in these conditions, you know in your heart, this guy can be out anytime. He just plonks his foot forward and hopes for good luck to have a nice contact with the ball. Now, lets come to other aspects and also with his captaincy ... 1. Has been persisting with having slips in deep. 2. Picking Harbhajan Singh for the second test when the pitch required to have four seamers. 3. Changing bowlers just when they should have been given a over or two, simply because they were in wicket taking streak. 4. Batting carelessly when the situation demands to play calmly. 5. Keeping wickets poorly and being chicken in not going for the catches which any quality keeper would go for. There have been couple of such instances in the first test. 6. He and Sachin Tendulkar have been adamant in not using the hawkeye technology, just because in one series in SL in 2008, decisions have gone against the team. This is creating an embarrassing situation for our team specially from the opposing camp fans/teams/commentators and what not. When your leader itself is doing so many things wrong, we can't expect a good performance from the team. P.S: I'm huge fan of Dhoni and Sachin, but I'm not mincing my views and trying to be forthright with my observations.
Pagalpanti Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 He has been successful with the very same technique, Im sure its just about confidence. He seems to be thinking he cant defend or play normally and tries to attack which isn't helping him. He is here to stay though, he is just going through a low phase.
pinkfreud Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Oh please now with the 'relaxing'. Our guys have relaxed too much already after tea today.
NareshK Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Lot of moronic knee jerk reactions in this thread. He played a bad shot but jeez, take a chill pill. Its not the end of the world.
asterix Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 I'm awaiting trademark comments like.. "One failure and you guys are......" "Just 2 matches in the series and you guys..." "Just one innings and you guys are..."
