gaurav92 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Lets take in some factors into account Suppose we are chasing somewhere between 450-500. Mukund - 60 Dravid - 70 Laxman - 120 Sachin - 60 Yuvraj - 40 Raina - 30 Dhoni - 50 Others - 50 Probably we can do it hypothetically :D
ShanS Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 It was the right decision to bowl first when you've won the toss and it's a green pitch with overcast conditions. We bowled superbly till that Broad-Swann partnership. But even after that, 221 isn't a big score by any means. It was our lower order batsmen's failure for which we didn't get a 100+ runs lead which was very gettable. When you lose 5 wickets for 4-5 runs, all the hard work that has been done by the previous batsmen, will come to naught. That exactly what happened. For the situation we are currently in, Dhoni's field placement was responsible for it big time. Let alone other field placing, when Bell was edging/playing the ball to 3rd man boundary at will, during the start of yesterday's play, Dhoni just kept standing with his hand on his hips and didn't even bother to place a fielder there! I mean, WTF was wrong with him? Has he become a ego maniac for which he didn't bother to keep a third man for most of the day because that might make his captaincy look like 'chasing the ball'?
pinkfreud Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 It was a fantastic decision that went down in vain thanks to us squandering our opportunities. If we lose the match, the toss would have absolutely nothing to do with it.
gaurav92 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 W bowled well, honestly I never expected them to get bundled out for 221. I had a score of 300+ in mind. But at one stage we had them at 124/8. And they manage to eek their way back and put up a competitive score of 221. Such things happen when we become a little complacent and the captain starts setting defesive fields even with your top quality spinner :--D. We bowled well in the first innings and we batted well for most part of our first innings. Its just the hat trick and poor shot from our batsman that cost us the first innings lead. But a 67 run lead was very precious. The track still had something to offer, but we were unable to use it to the max. We were shattered by poor field placements once again and they managed to score 441/6. Now we are ****ed royally and will be chasing down a total in excess of 450-460. We will get boundled out for under 300 yet again with Dravid being the only man who will top score.
ShanS Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Before the start of the series I nerver thought that it'll be over so soon:((. I was expecting it to be 1-1 or 1-0 before the Birmingham test. I have lost all interest in the series now. Congrats to england.
Ravi. Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I am a big Mishra fan. Just wanted to get views here. People were asking for 4 seam attack. Always loved and wanted Mishra to somehow make it to the team. I would personally back him and pick him. Mishra is a no ball specialist and he doesnt deserve a place in test side.
gaurav92 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Play with 4 seamers and Yuvi as the spin option. Raina is useless, can't be entrusted with the job of a spinner.
Ravi. Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Anything around 425 is chaseable but for that we need to take 4 quick wickets first.
Hell Raiser Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Like your faith in this team but this match is out of our grasp now. India have to bat out of their skin to win this one, chances of which look very bleak.
pinkfreud Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 If there is any line up to chase this down, It's Indiaz. Mukund Dravid Laxman Tendulkar Yuvraj Raina Dhoni Harbhajan Impossible is nothing
Hell Raiser Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 417 runs were scored on a day which we were hoping to go our way. Really disappointed with the team. But credit to England as well, they totally outclassed and outplayed us on this crucial day.
jonas10 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Well for one http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/em/nottingham_forecast_weather.html And the great India praying for rain yet again? World champs behaviour brah. Youve been awfully quiet about the Bell incident. No comments? I want to know what the hypocrites who cheat more than Pakistanis think of the whole run-out.
gaurav92 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I hope they bat for 2 days and score 1000+ runs and create a new world record, Prior to break the 501 and Bresnan to get his maiden ton in the form of a triple ton They will return the spirit with a spirited draw :nice:
vamos_rafa Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I am afaraid its all gone.... They would have run out of all the gas in the tank by now. I don;t know why but I feel, we are going to lose this pretty badly. We would meekly surrender this one. BTW, is anyone reminded of the Karachi test in 2006 when IP took a hat-trick? This test has had a similar pattern where we had the advantcage twice but gave it away :--(
Desi Cartman Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I have a feeling that we might just draw this one, SRT is due for a big one and RD-VVS are playing well more over Raina and UV didnt do too badly either. Couple of 150 runs partnership and we'll be safe. I hope
anbuchelvan Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 No chance of chasing. As Sachin is thinking of 100 rather than in the game.
TheWall Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Rain for day 5. But then will India last for Day 4????
nitinbwj Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 It was one of the WORST sundays of my life......
