wobblydoggy Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I spent the day at the test yesterday amongst some very nice Indians who took what was a rout very gracefully. They put many to shame on here. We all had a great time and they left promising that Sehwag would demolish us at Birmingham. I was not called a Paki or a racist and we talked cricket. They were very knowlegable if slightly partisan. They were embarrassed at India's lack of effort to put up a defence, but admitted that we were just too good for them. I hope to meet more such Indians at the Oval where win or lose we will both have a great time. It is a shame that can not be said on here where quite frankly the hate is obvious towards England and the English as a whole. I thought this was a cricket site when I joined, not a place to come and be abused. Many on here abuse the players of both sides too. What a shame that there is not more of the spirit of cricket on here. We are 2-0 up and I look forward to battling a full strength team at Edgebaston

wobblydoggy Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Why would you be called that? I get it on here everyday I post I was so angry the other day I left. But, yesterday my faith was restored in the Indian people as a whole and as I had promised to stick it out here win or lose for the series I came back. I love Cricket for the game, but I dont hate other sides like it seems many on here do I only loathe cheats

I doubt so. Some of these are keyboards warriors who take it as if they are in a war. I tell you that when you meet some of these people and they see a 50 year old person, they would probably give you more respect than you might have ever got in England. :winky: Don't feel offended by all this.

urbestfriend Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 We Indians are generally nice when met face to face , but come across as rude in internet!

Cricket Tragic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I know they cannot see me:haha: on here They just instantly seem to assume that I must be a pakistani Not that it's correct but it is because of past experience on this forum. Even Indian members are often put through the nationality test. Ask Mishraji. :cantstop:

Trichromatic Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I was not called a Paki or a racist and we talked cricket. Don't worry about being called a Paki. They put many to shame on here. I'm not surprised. They were very knowlegable if slightly partisan. Many posters are knowledgable here. There are some kids posting while drinking their bournvita. They were embarrassed at India's lack of effort to put up a defence, but admitted that we were just too good for them. Who is proud of that performance here? Check out Serani's thread. It is a shame that can not be said on here where quite frankly the hate is obvious towards England and the English as a whole. It's not so. I thought this was a cricket site when I joined, not a place to come and be abused. Many on here abuse the players of both sides too. Don't take it seriously.
Bumper Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 wobblydoggy, Please dont leave the forums after the series is over man. Its plain boring out here without fans like you representing other countries. A bit of needling & aggression is pretty common on message boards, particularly this one, as we dont restrain our posters too much. Keep in mind that many proud Indian fans have been humbled in this series and many of us fans are still in denial, so the frustration levels here are quite high. For perspective, if you are expecting people to behave here as they would in real life, you are being a bit unrealistic. Most people are rude on the internet, by default. We argue amongst ourselves, we are very passionate and we all think we know a lot about cricket (in reality only few of us know something about this great sport, which is a diff story). And if you are worried about English players being abused, think again. We leave no stone unturned when it comes to abusing Indian players themselves. You could literally pick any Indian player and search for "Dhoni ****" or "Sachin #$%&", i guarantee you, the search will return you something. Such is our rich tradition. I have been posting here since the forums started. Lot of people abuse me, I ignore them & talk to the ones i like. I dont respond to every one who challenges me, i pick & choose my fights. But at the end of the day, i have a budget in terms of time i spend here, when my buzzer goes off, i hit the "x" on the browser & walk away - no emotions, no hard feelings. Tommorrow is a new day, yesterday's arguments dont count. Call me shameless, but this is the best way to manage your MB life. Hope you stick around!
achilles Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Serani opened a thread appreciating our efforts. See, as far as I am concerned, I only indulge in banter with you. And you seem to take it decently too. I can't comment about others and your equation with them. Frankly, you should treat a message board like one. Don't get too caught up with the abuse. We don't, when we visit your boards.
Alchemist Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I have argued and agreed with you on certain points. In some cases you make sense and in some you don't. But it is true to everybody here since people think differently. There is no need to be down. And don't think of going anywhere because we would likt to get back to you when we start winning. :winky:
