akshayxyz Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 i'm most defo a cardio freak love running cycling all the classes at the gym!!! the only one i really hate is rowing! Ironically rowing is most complete cardio you can do in the gym. Even I hate it, within 5-7 minutes it starts hurting my bums, not much padding there :((
Dravid Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 ya its good but again its kind of boring throw in couple of chicks (or guyz, w.e your choice), it will make it better..
Laaloo Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 My fav machine for cardio aside from jump ropes http://www.octanefitness.com/

kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I need to lose 10 kgs in next 4 months thats my Goal. I used to run 2 Kms straight on treadmill for almost a month (20 days in a month)..Did not lose a pound... Someone advised me to cocentrate more on strength training, lifting weights etc. And also suggested to do high intensity treadmill. So I started to run on a slop and in 3 or 4 mins I am dead tired. After this intense running, I go for weights etc. Is that a good idea??
kabira Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Yes. with elliptical rider you can maintain heart rate of 160 for 2 hours without much pain. You simply cannot do that with running as it is a high impact exercise. If you are worried about knee pain elliptical rider is a great choice. I have knee issues hence i prefer elliptical rider. elliptical rider is boring..

Ideally, one day weights, other day cardio...or if you have time - split in morning/evening sessions. As for your goals 10kgs in 4 months. It wont be possible w/o managing your diet. There will be some initial progress due to increase in intensity in gym, but eventually that will stagnate ( or oscillate within a weight window). To break those plateaus - diet management is absolute must....unless of course you can manage to increase your cardio to 7-8 hours per day ;)..
vvvslaxman Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 elliptical rider is boring.. Not when you watch an action flick :winky:

Exercise don't mean automatically reduction in weight. A very good diet plan has to go hand in hand to lose weight.
Laaloo Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Even with consuming indian food, I've managed to lose about 15 pounds since I started working out. And there has been some periods where I don't hit the gym 3-4 times a week. Imagine if I keep going to the gym regular :woot:
