For your information, Shaun Tait was not that bad too. The guy holds the record for the second fastest ball ever recorded and broke 100mph barrier 2 times. This guy is a World Champion Team Member. He was extremely instrumental in winning Australia 2007 World Cup in the absence of Brett Lee. Obviously, he should have played more and got more wickets as he is still young. But it is his personal choice whether he wanted to play Cricket more or whether he is satisfied with whatever he has achieved so far shaun tait was worse in test cricket .. n by cricket i only mean test cricket..what is the use if bowlers cannot take 20 wickets and just come n throw the ball like a misslie..to win test matches teams must take 20 wickets

He did not play tests not because he could not take wicket but because his body was not sustaining the rigorous burden of bowling in tests. Tait's main problem to play tests longer than what he played was his bowling action which was used to take a lot of toll on his legs and thighs and he used to have lot of groin and thigh strains. Otherwise, there was no reason, he could not have been successful if he had played more. 3 tests is not a good enough criteria whether he was successful; in test cricket or not. He was so successful in whatever ODIs he played. He has one of the best strike in ODIs at 27.

He could swing the ball away from right handed batsman, could ball reverse swing, could bowl bouncers. Watch his dismissal to Tendulkar in WC QF that swung away, watch his dismissal of Kieswetter in ODI, that swing away. You don't need too much swing at that pace. He is still the fastest bowler in the world whenever he plays. Hit fastest ball in WC as well, fastest ever bowl in India at 157K. He is not gun barrel straight at all. Yes, he is not the most accurate because of his unusual action but he has been a wicket taker in shorter formats for Australia. His ODI record says this all and in test you cannot judge as he has not played many tests.

At the moment there are 2 good bowlers in the Indian team who could be called fast, but what is the reason India hasn't produced fast bowlers like Australia, SA, England?

Umesh, Ishant, Varun Aaron, and Abu Nechim.

Tait is happy with whatever he has achieved in his career and Australia is happy with him too. Thats what matters. We should only worry about our fast bowlers and obviously, our fast bowlers have done an excellent job in the 1st test and you will even see more improvement from the second test onwards, provided if they stay fit. As far as swing is concerned, Ishant and Umesh both can hit 150s and still they swings the ball. Ishant is only 23 and Umesh is 24. They both have swing and pace. In 1 to 2 years, they will be among World's best. Our 3rd fast bowler Varun aaron is an excellent exponent of reverse swing with pace.

The answer 2 your question can be, that last World Cup was in Indian-Subcontinent and before that 2007 in West Indies. So, they were focussing on grooming 'line and length work-horses' and the next World- Cup is in Australia where genuine pace matters, so now we are focussing on improving fast bowling bench strength.

Rahul Shukla & Shami Ahmed can also bowl 145+,I believe if Rahul gets fully fit & gains his rhythm then he can be India's fastest bowler.Yes faster than Umesh, Ishant & Varun.Rahul can bowl upto 150ks.It's a shame that he's not even finding his place in the Jharkhand team.
