I would love to have seen what would happen if he even tried that (bat in crowd). Do you think then that 4-5 security guards would have held 100-150 men, behind a weak fence? Do you think he would have escaped criminal charges with hundreds of witnesses? Kohli isn't as 'god-like' and exempt from the law in England, as he most likely is in India... Hmmm. The ONLY incident I've ever heard of involving a bat was in Canada. Now, I'm no geography teacher, but... Anyway, thanks for clarifying the nationality thing. We needed someone to dictate to us what we can and can't be, and you filled the role superbly. Congrats... Now, I'm sure you're busy, there's quite a few stadiums for you to set fire to when things aren't going your way, or perhaps you could throw a few bottles/missiles at players? I have seen Monty Panesar destroyed by India fans, and he continued to ignore it while fielding. (Many more examples etc). I have never seen any player run to security before, or getting a fan ejected. It would only really happen if racial in nature, or physical. I've seen what Indian papers have fabricated regarding this incident, which is why I can understand some of this aggro...

The same Virat Kohli when he is in Delhi during his free time, is always available for visiting NGOs working for under privileged children, elderly etc. Participates in a lot of charity programs as well. In fact I have seen him at a few events in malls in Delhi and he has come across as a decent guy signing autographs, chatting to fans.

I missed the incident with Kumar. I've seen pictures, and I remember walking past that bus a few times during play. Kumar was below par, but he received no abuse from us in the stands. He was actually a really nice guy, just like Sreesanth. Talked to the fans with respect. As I didn't see what happened, I have nothing to say against Kumar, or the fan involved... As for British migrants etc, some of the fiercest booing against Kohli was coming from what you would call 'Proper' Indians, who had spent most of the day chatting away in Hindi, and had blatantly flown in to follow the team on tour. I have seen similar groups of Indians from India, leading the way in abusive chants against Pakistan, when we played a T20 against them at the Oval in 2009. (Not that us 'Brits' needed much encouragement). Up until the proper Indians started, the chants from the Brits had been pretty tame in comparison, like "We are India, say we are India" etc...

actually dude eventhough i picked on viRAT for my own entertainment... on a more serious note, some guys have raised good points on this thread... have you considered the possibility that players would feel threatened by a mob behind their backs? i mean true, he might have been a pig head towards a kid but is that reason enuf to provoke him with chanting and booing and all. sure he earns money because of fans... but he is not a slave . and then immediately after the match some guys provoked praveen kumar too. yeah sure we are losing and going thru a lean patch but a lot of losers out there want to get a thrill by saying something bad to a celebrity and getting off unpunished. iam sure he treated you badly as you say but did taunting our own player solve anything. why didnt one of you just tell the group that he is our own player, just ignore him... iam not supporting him... just asking you if ignoring him would have been so much better?
