Chandan
WI U-19, 189/0 in 41.1 overs. Why can't Indian colds wrap it up? Do they also suffer from the same syndrome of their senior team ie, unable to dismiss the tail? Link to comment
nsareen
B Aparajit taking 4 wickets and scoring 40+ runs, good all rounder for India U19, along with rush Kalaria, who is also a match winning all rounder. This team seems to be strong, with lot of multi skilled players. aparajit , kalaria, shreyas gopal, AD Nath, kamal passi all of them can bat and bowl. Link to comment

nsareen
From bowling bouncers to swatting them, Kalaria works his way seamlessly Visakhapatnam: There were a couple of instances when the irate freeloaders decided they had had enough and left the premises. The number of spectators at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, which had become packed by the time India bowled out the Sri Lankan U-19 team for 184 runs, was reduced by half when the Indian side collapsed to 108/7. Not much later, the din dropped drastically and another group trudged off when the penultimate wicket fell, with India still 28 runs short of victory. But amidst the evening dust and the otherwise mute environs, four distinct voices continued to stand out — screaming hoarse as they egged the team on. It wouldn’t have mattered to Bipinbhai Kalaria, his sister and teenagers Chirantan and Bhavya if they were the only ones left in the stadium. After all, Bipinbhai’s son and Chirantan’s best friend, Rush Kalaria, was at the crease. The youngster from Rajkot had walked in at No.9, with the side 78 runs away from a win. But with only the echoing support of his close ones, and the determined voice of self belief, Kalaria pulled off the performance of his fledgling career — an unbeaten 47 that led Indian colts to a thrilling 1-wicket win. With his ecstatic acquaintances watching from the stands, the 18-year old was carried in on the shoulders of delirious colleagues to the blaring sounds of nasal Gujarati pop music. But more than his disco moves in the locker or his boundary beats in the centre — he hit two fours and a six — it was Kalaria’s grit, and his willingness to spend time at the crease, that earned him his first set of believers. “It’s not often that you see a child keep a cool head in such situations. He showed great composure and has made us all proud today,” said Bharat Arun, India coach. For a tall boy, Kalaria ducked under Sanita de Mel’s bouncers with ease; and for a tailender, he bent awfully low in his crease to conquer the dangerous spin of Tharindu Kaushal. With supple wrists, he constantly rotated the strike when he was in the company of Hanuman Vihari, his senior partner in the first phase of rebuilding. Once Vihari was dismissed for 51 with the score on 152, Kalaria farmed the strike, keeping the remaining two tailenders away from the batting crease. “When I was a probable for the state side last year, I wanted to breakthrough as an all-rounder. But it is my bowling that has been my main weapon,” he said. With an action that closely resembles a left-handed Ishant Sharma, Kalaria scalped the dangerous Lahiru Madhushanka in the role of a first-change bowler. Still, it will be his range as a batsman that will be spoken about in the days to come. Link to comment
