vamos_rafa Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Would it be safe to say that it was our bowling because of which we lost this badly? I know our batting did not stand up but they were always playing uder the burden of mountainous runs. Apart from the 1 inning at trent bridge, they were always playing catch up cricket. And on the other end, they could always find the likes of Anderson, Broad and all bowling such tight lines. Surely they would have lost a bit of heart because of that.
Sid Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Its always been Indias batting that helps India win overseas,so I would say batting is at fault.I still cant believe we havent scored 300 on this tour so far.
CG Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 You cannot blame the bowling when we have not managed to cross 300 in last 6 tests and we have played on flat track at lords ,had the best batting condition at trent bridge where we bowled england for 224 and should have scored 400 and won the test match.if you top order batsman score less than lower order you are in trouble and to top it we. Drop catches
rkt.india Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 our bowling really sucked and looked completely clueless.
CG Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 our bowling really sucked and looked completely clueless. They have no plans just bowl line and pray.we need a bowling coach .ganguly pointed how he told dhoni and ishant to bowl at kp legstump as he was walking over.but there is no sign of any variation.like we had in venky days .but batting sucked more
Temujin Khaghan Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 ishanth sharma isnt good enuf for zimboks.

Apart from Headinlgley in 2002, I don't think our batters have dominated the attack. Infact even that match would have been drawn had we not got 20 wickets. You look at all the other outside wins, our bowling has atleast kept the other team at par with our score or got them cheaply. But this time, the batsmen were always playing catch up. The pitch, by the way the Poms bowl, always seemed to be fresh. Our bowling was piss poor and hence this result.

If you compare pitches this year with last years pitches ,I think this year pitches are far more easier. It was a complete failure of our batting unit ,that is responsible for the loss. What do you mean by catch up cricket,we restricted them to 221 in Notts but our batting failed again to capitalise on that .Again in this test, complete failure in the 1st innings ,you expect batsmen of this class to survive difficult conditions and then score big,but it didnt happen even a single time. I feel for our fast bowlers on the contary they tried hard ,I am only angered at that incompetent spinner who played as a passenger and then left the team citing an injury.
CG Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 they would have been if had bowled consistent line and length' date=' but they didn't that is why they were thrashed even more.[/quote'] you are missing the point ,they were bowling line and length all day ,but that is not their strength , you cannot use ishant to bowl line and length nor sreesanth you have use them for short bursts and tell them to bend their back .there needs to be a plan .english bowlers had plans of bowling a few short deliveries and then pitch it up .but we just pitched it up.i have seen ishant rattle amla in kolkatta test after which the game turned .we did not try anything

That was the only exception. And talking about thrashing by SL and Bangladesh, mate they never played their full strenght attacks in those games. They are 130 bowlers all right but they do know how to bowl!!!

saneindian Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Cant really blame Ishant and Pk for effort. Have ben running day in and day out since the WI tour. 6 tests in about 50 days is a hell lot of work. Unfortunately the batting hasn't clicked either meaning no respite fr these bowlers. Ishant clearly looked exhasuted in this test. And thats where Sree was so disappointing. He has had enough rest, bowled a lot of overs in the 2nd test and should really have been at his best here. Not to be. Give how things are, Ishant and Sree will be replaced by Munaf and RPS. Not sure how much f a difference it will make though unless the batsmen put up a total of 400+ in the 1st innings.
Karan114 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Trent Bridge - bowlers dismissed them for 220 on day 1. Yes, the Broad-Swann partnership was frustrating, and it wasn't a flat track, but even so, 220 left India in the advantage. No scoreboard pressure there. Edgbaston - batted first, so no question of scoreboard pressure. So we can't blame the bowlers. Yes, the bowling has been poor (apart from Praveen), but our batting has been diabolical over these last few weeks. Even Bangladesh made 300 when they toured last year.

No you were not, you batted first:giggle: You could have scored 450 and put us under pressure, instead less than 300 again
Moman211 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 The problem for india is that all their bowlers are brought up on flat pitches where the ball doesnt bounce higher than your waist. how are you meant to bring in good fast bowlers when the pitch is doing nothing. Some of indias young seamers like arun vaun(i think thats his name) should do what Wayne Parnell did and sign up for an English county where they will get some assistance and better coaching instead of wasting there time playing in the IPL. ZAK did it when he was off form so did dravid, tendulkar, gangulay etc i think Laxman not sure.
Trichromatic Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 First Lords test, it was not a pitch where a good batting side would lose match. Flat track and team struggled to score 300+. If not win, then it should have been draw with decent performance. TB test : We had advantage and that was the time when we could have really put England under pressure. We lost the advantage. Forget even that. When they scored 500+, we needed to bat in same conditions for 2 sessions and we could have saved the match. It was raining on 5th day. If you can't bat for 2 sessions then what can be said. Third test : Flat pitch and you find your top 6 batsman going down for 100 runs in each inning. It was batting which ensured that we lose the match. Bowling made sure that we don't win the match.
Kumar Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 bowling was a fraction of the reason why this series was far from par with England! Batting, injuriies, mentality, over confidence and other reasons caused this series collapse and of course they way England performed!
vamos_rafa Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 I don't think so that the pitches were this easy as we are making them to be. The English bowlers were far more consistent with the way they bowled. And that is one of the primary reasons why our batters struggled. The same way if we had bowlers who could do the same, the contest would have been far more even stevens. Does anyone here remember the 2006 SA series ? It was a similar kind of a series battingwise for India but it was the bowling which had kept us in the hunt right through. These tracks surely were't as placid as the kind of scores the English has posted.
