I will see if I can catch some type of Independence day parade/celebrations in Hyderabad today. Btw, security at airports is ridiculously tight. Girls walking around with sub machine guns and Uzi's scare me :fear:

It is a significant period for India. We've got limitless potential and limitless corruption. After 64 years of freedom from colonial rule, we are at the crossroads. May this year be a step in the right direction. Jai Hind.

This and Vande Mataram were two songs that used to give me goosebumps. Of the recent bollywood stuff, this is good too. Kandhon se milte hain kandhe, qadmon se qadam milte hain Ham chalte hain jab aise toh dil dushman ke hilte hain) -2 Kunal: Ab toh hamein aage badte hai rehna Ab toh hamein saathi hai bas itna hi kehna Roop Kumar: Ab toh hamein aage badte hain rehna Ab toh hamein saathi hai bas itna hi kehna Sonu: Ab jo bhi ho shola banke pathar hai pighlaana Hariharan: Ab jo bhi ho baadal banke parbat par hai chhaana All: (Kandhon se milte hain kandhe, qadmon se qadam milte hain Ham chalte hain jab aise toh dil dushman ke hilte hain) -2

Happy Freedom day :isalute: :isalute: :isalute: :isalute:
corrected as per my opinion. We were NEVER dependent to have become independent. We were conquered and enslaved. We earned our FREEDOM. Many may think I am making a bit too much because it is all semantics. Independence means: a. The state of being able to support oneself without help from others b. Freedom from control or influence of another or others I underline the word 'freedom' above because it causes a circular argument. Oxford dictionary sez Independence = "©Õhe fact or state of being independent? Although the word "independent" is much closer to the meaning of the word "free". Freedom means: a. The condition of being free; the power to act, speak or think without externally imposed restraints b. Immunity from an obligation or duty Oxford Dictionary sez: Freedom - the power or right to act , speak, or think as one wants Freedom - the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved Freedom - (freedom from) the state of not being subject to or affected by (something undesirable) Freedom - (the freedom of Ã÷) British a special privilege or right of access, especially that of full citizenship of a city granted to a public figure as an honour Now, which of the two words (independence or freedom) do you, in your heat and soul, feel we gained on the 15th of August 1947? If you agree with the latter, please correct every Indian or anyone else who refers to our Freedom Day as Independence Day. We are NOT USofA who gained independence through an act of mutiny. We gained Freedom from enslavement. We were never dependent on them to suddenly gain independence. We were enslaved.
