How to improve standard of domestic cricket in India?

I have also mentioned about tracks to be played on and how the level of cricket can be raised higher from Duleep if our A team have away tours in a 2-year cycle consistently. There will not be much benefit if same players play against each other whether pitches are seaming or batting friendly because we are already seeing quite a few seaming pitches in India, but problem with Indian conditions is that pitches ease out drastically after first or second sessions play whatever seaming pitch they have prepared. It will yield more one-sided affairs in domestic cricket depending on more who wins the toss wins the match. This is not the best thing to do. Instead I would prefer hard and bouncier pitches rather than too greenish or moist. Like England Lions or England Development squad travels with national team at most places, we must derive some plan about this so that these players play more matches in alien conditions and faces better attacks.
Yes, whatever gets the most out of the conditions be it hard bouncy pitches or green tops where the weather isn't harsh. And absolutely, we need to have developmental squads that tour along, that is a big deal.

We can include some A teams of other countrie in the Deodar and Dullep trophies. If im not wrong it was done before right?
yes but it does not help much..our teams beat them easily every time. Touring abroad is a much better way, like playing an India A in county circuit.

When was the last time BCCI held a bowlers camp inviting the primising bowlers (pacers, spinners alike) to join a camp run by some of world's leading names at the NCA? Invite world's best coaches and experts, shortlist some 20-25 promising bowlers, especially those who have done well in a domestic season and include some of those who the domestic coaches feel have a good future. Let them camp run for 2-3 weeks Let the young spinners of the country be trained at the NCA for camps spread across the year under the supervision of Kumble, Prasanna, Venkat and Chandra. And then there should be an A tour of Eng/SA/Aus every year with 3-4 first class matches and not for some tamasha t20 or 50 opvers matches. But all that we are going to get is IPl and Clt20 and the BCCI Corporate Trophy.

BCCI is useless in development aspect. I would love to see bowlers like rahuil sharma, sarabjeet ladda, bhatt, etc. guided by our legend spinners and fast bowlers going through strict fitness regime program.

You guys are sweating the small stuff.... The biggest issue I see with the Indian domestic system is that the best FC cricketers(i.e the Test cricketers) don't participate in it pretty much. The Indian calendar is very crowded, but if the BCCI institutes the following: 0. Make Nov-Jan the exclusive preserve of the domestics. No international tours home or abroad. 1. Every player must play atleast 5 FC domestic games per season to be considered for selection to the Test team. 2. One tournament, the Ranji Trophy, in its FC, ODI, T20 form. Have an integrated calendar. When Mumbai travel to Hyderabad, let them play an FC tie, an ODI & a T20. Let the team include all the players from all versions. Scrap all the rest(Deodhar, Irani mainly). --------------- The last time Sachin Tendulkar took the field for Mumbai was Jan 2009; Even a guy like Laxman(who doesn't play ODIs) last played one Duleep match over 12-13 months back. That shows how the top guys care about playing in the domestics. How will our domestic cricketers improve, if they don't play FC cricket against the best bowlers and batters in the land? But's it's a pipedream.

The biggest problem in Ranji games is that there is no incentive to take 20 wickets. And that is reflected in our national team. Change the format to a league where a team can only win by taking 20 wickets, and you will see states putting emphasis preparing "results" pitch favorable for both batsman and bowlers. It amazing the the organizers persist what this dinosaur format, talk about lack of imagination.

International players shouldn't play FC just for giving practice to other players. They already follow hectic schedule. I don't think anywhere in the world main player burn themselves in FC cricket. That would be too much. I agree with most of what you have mentioned. But it shouldn't be applied to pacers who play lot of international cricket and main batsmen.

This is not a problem. Even Australian and English players do not play domestic FC much. They are barred by ECB to play county cricket because of fatigue and injury issues. They only play when some one is not in form to get his form back. According to Nasser Hussain, this is the main reason England fast bowlers have started doing well and he also said on commentary that England too do not have much bench strength in batting or bowling apart from these guys who are playing. He names only James Taylor in batting and no one in bowling part from these 5-6 who are playing right now.

Good points and i agree on most points but i feel the deodar and duleep trophies are also important as they are tougher than the Ranji trophy. And why scrap Irani trophy? Its only one match.

it is not possible. dec-jan is our home season when teams tour india and india tour aus, nz, and sa in this time. BTW, there is no fc tournament in the world where you find international test players play.

First of all Indian domestic cricket is simply not good enough when you compare to County cricket. I mean why do you think every time great players have struggled theyve gone to CC?(E.g. Tendulkar, dravid, ponting ect...) This is because there too much of an emphasis on batting which means pitches are flat and this creates these batsmen who are FTBs that score lots of runs at home and are hyped up but the when they go abroad they get found out by quality seam and swing bowling. I feel for bowlers who play in Indian domestic leagues cause they have no chance of improving because the bcci is to frickin lazy to get off their fat asses and actually spend those hundreds of millions of dollars they make each year on developing young bowlers by giving them pitches that have something in them to give them a chance. the day that happens the sun will rise in the west but hay didnt England beat India 4-0:winky:
