So it means you agree Ishant was quick, right? If you are not than watch this and if it is not quick for you by Ishant than I think you should stick with Robiul Islam. And Styen has not dropped in pace. Styen does not bowl quick all the time. He bowls according to the conditions and pitch. When there is swing and seam, he concentrate on swing and seam, but when it is dry, he tries to bowl quick and get some reverse or bounce out the batsman, that is what he did on India's tour to South Africa.
ishant is comparatively quick, yes, especially when you compare him with other indian seamers. but he's definitely not 150ks quick, that is a fact. and about the speedguns, it's not that they're adding 5-10ks to every delivery, it's about their inconsistency. ishant just got lucky with the speedgun i presume. some things you say about steyn are true, but he has dropped in pace, maybe intentionally to prolong his career. reverse swing and extra bounce are things which we never associate with steyn.

I am not talking about extra bounce. I am talking about bouncers. MS Dhoni got out on his bouncer when he was well set on 90 in Centurian test. He dos rattle the batsman with his pace when there is no swing. I do not think you have seen much of Steyn. You did not watch Nagpur test where he exhibited his reverse swing prowess with the old ball on a flat track and took 7-8 wickets in an innings. And to See at which pace Ishant is bowling in this match, you need see how far Sangakkara is standing.

why should steyn record the similar speeds as ishant?? steyn has dropped in pace over the years and it's his accuracy and swing that get batsmen into trouble. even in the IND tour of SA' date= steyn operated around 140 if not less.
Cut the CRAP will ya??? Steyn can be the fastest bowler in the world as of now, as we speak , if he bends his back. In the same IPL, he clocked above 150 too !!! Dude see the matches before making false statements, he is not down on pace, he preserves it for the moment he feels he needs to use it. And for ishant, he has learnt the same from Steyn, in the Test Series you could see ishant, being in the mid to high 130s till 145-146KMPH easily. That's preserving your energies, and steyn did the same in the test series against india. He use to pick up speed in the last session when the ball was old, with the new ball, he use to bowl slowly to swing it. Smart Bowling this, and i'm very happy Ishant has picked on this art, atleast for now.

steyn is the best pace bowler in the world hands down. but those ipl speed guns were false for the most part.

can't be too sure now eh? get a new bunch of accurate speedguns first and then we'll talk. and i agree with this preservation of energy thing in tests, but why do i see steyn bowling in 130s most of the time in t20s too?

But do we have any other options or you would like to see Sreeshanth and Munaf thrashed or instead grooming guys and give them chance to fail or succeed. It is not about hype, we do not have any options rather to try new options and see if they can be good in a year or two rather than going back to bowlers who have failed in past and after 6 years of international cricket, they have only gotten worse. Until we try, we will not get any or know if anyone is good. I am not saying start playing them in every match, give them limited chances. This will give them chance to improve and taste the pressure of international cricket.
Don't disagree with any of that. Just keep expectations low, because we've been on this road before - young Indian bowler gets hyped for supposed pace, but then disappoints or at least fades away after a promising start.

I am just talking about them because I see potential. There are not anything yet, it is just their natural raw talent which can make them some thing. Let them fail first but do not discard if they fail initially. Give them one or two chances here and there if some one is injured or in a dead rubber and ask them to bowl to their strengths.

probably because of having control over the new ball. Really quick bowling can go for lot of runs in T20, as shown by Tait and the others, but there is no doubt whatsoever, he is one of the fastest in the world at the moment, also being the BEST in the world.

Lolz at people who always claim that speed guns had errors . In that case, what makes you people believe Shoaib actually touched 160 ever ? Cant we say that it was a speed gun error ? Even if he bowled at 155, and speed gun showed 160, wud the batsman or anyother be able to judge ? This is absolute crap reasoning. When Indians bowl fast, it must be speed gun error. When others bowl fast, they are tearaway bowlers !!! :finger::finger::finger: No bowler in the world ever has bowled 155+ consistently ! Do not single out Indian bowlers. The speed guns before being put up in the match are properly caliberated. And if my memory serves me right, there are actually 3 speed guns for a match and based on the speeds on all 3, is the speed shown on ur screen. And if the speeds would be incorrect, the speed gun company defintely would lose the contract , thats not a smart thing for any company ! And something like that happening in an IPL match, I dont think it can happen ! I rest the case to you people !

i meant that steyn is not "known" for reverse swing. almost all the time he does the damage with the new ball with conventional swing. a guy who excels on reverse swing: malinga. and to some extent, rubel too (don't laugh now).

dun worry Umesh ain't gonna get a call up to the national team anytime soon. i am kinda exited about this Aaron kid tho... if he can bowl 145+ consistently, WE NEED HIM RIGHT NOW !!
I was expecting Varun to be on WI tour..... Too much BCCI bureaucracy

Lets not discusss abt pace bowling in icf. These so called indian cricket fan experts come up with arguements that pace is not imp, line and length is imp bullshit etc. Even after losing 3 test matches and no.1 spot in world cricket people believe u dont need tearaway pacers. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.................

Its actually elementary. Clearly the tactic of having bowlers reduce their pace for line and length hasnt worked for Indian cricket , it shouldnt take nuclear physics for the selectors to understand to just try to develop and bring in as many tearaway bowlers as they can. How can they do any worse than these ' perfect line n length ' trundlers have done anyways ?

Why does Munaf get so much criticism here? In the past, certainly he wasn't a fit player but all that has changed. He's improved his accuracy, developed variataions and according to Simmons has worked extremely hard on his fitness. I like the way he bowls too. I think he would be a good holding/3rd seamer in test matches and apart from Ishant he's the only other tall fast bowlers that can keep bowling at mid 80mph and hit the deck hard.

Well that's not entirely true. It's not that fast bowlers in India have been asked to reduce their pace. Prasad is on record as saying that never happened. The reality is that a lot of pace bowlers from WI to New Zealand tend to reduce their pace at times to bowl with more control or try and concentrate on swing. If the bowler struggles with accuracy then it becomes an even bigger factor. Plus even minor niggles/strains can really force you to cut down on your pace.
