Ponka Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Ponka's surprised that nobody is talking about raina's 29 ball duck which equals the longest duck by an Indian, joining Irfan Pathan. Only couple of messages in match thread and not a single thread on it really surprised Ponka...so Ponka decided to create a thread on this to discuss and get the reactions here as to why did it happen and how did it happen and what do you think should happen now with Raina. :hitler:
CSK Fanatic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Touch harsh, everyone failed dude. He has weakness against swing, bounce, full pitched yorker length ball, and fine off spin but his cover drives and lofted shots are breathtaking, he kinda compensates in that regard. He needs more chances and support of Indian fans, I'm sure he will cement his place soon. Hope MS Dhoni and Srikkanth dont panic, emerging players need captains and chief selectors faith.
Trichromatic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 He has weakness against swing' date= bounce, full pitched yorker length ball, and fine off spin :cantstop: but his cover drives and lofted shots are breathtaking, he kinda compensates in that regard.
ensd2 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 He was indian best spinner and best fielder . Deserves few more chance
Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Swann bowls well to right left handers as he has the straighter delivery.I saw him bowl and he bowled a ball short outside offstump to cut.I thought 'Whats this rubbish another 4 ball' but it came into raina with the arm and almost had him.Its difficult for left handers to play him.Having said that raina must improve his play.I fear that Gambhir may also struggle against Swann. He is a good player but often gets bowled to the ball pitching on leg and middle and turning.

Isn't that how Swann got him in the WC?

Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Isn't that how Swann got him in the WC? Exactly and also similar dismisal against bangladesh.I remember him on few more ocassions but cant remember exact match.Ill see if i can find some videos.
Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Don't worry in IPL on batting paradise wickets' date=' with 55 matters boundaries & with some lollypop throwers , he will become the Don Bradman again ...:csk:[/quote'] Yes all you will see are slogs to midwicket and the occasional loft over cover.
bulbul Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 we created so many Records this series these things get ignored
Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Raina gets worked over too easily.Maybe he could have played his natural game as he had nothing to loose.

Your last point must be in regards to IPL and CLT20.

Luckily he didn't played lofted shots in this series or else it should have created Breathing problems to you
Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Raina doesnt move his feet well and gets into bad positions.
Ponka Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Raina doesnt move his feet well and gets into bad positions. that just not justify 29 ball duck completely. Question is about Intent. What plan team thinktanks laid infront of him?
asterix Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 As long as he is performing in KEY :csk: matches in IPL and CL, I don't think there's any reasons to worry..
Jayaram_IND Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 that just not justify 29 ball duck completely. Question is about Intent. What plan team thinktanks laid infront of him? When did i justify him?I was actually criticising him.Yes he should have played his natural game.He already tried blocking and it didnt work in edgebaston and since there was nothing to loose. What i meant about feet movement was that he doesnt always move forward well. Its not the bouncer but the ball after that that usually gets wickets. He often plays from the creaseof plays around his front pad(something like cook because he gets more side on than chest on).I was referring to that.
Septimius Severus Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 In on page 1 of a Ponka thread. Spot for sale. edit: sold to Cyberdyne Systems
Sidhoni Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 He played out 5 overs, that might be crucial in the end :winky:
rkt.india Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 and was umpired where he could have been given not out. I didnt think he was out.
