If ball tampering is made legal, then Waqar else Donald. Had he not lost first 3-4 years of his youth due to ban on SA, Donald could easily have ended with 450+ wickets.

If Waqar hadnt suffered from a serious back injurry ... he would have been the greatest bowler ever have a look at his stats before 1996..... He was fastest in the world from 1989-1995

Among these three, my order would be Donald, Waqar and Pollock. I always rated Donald in first category in which OP has put McGrath, Wasim and Ambrose. Pollock, Waqar, Walsh come in the next league.

I think this is a no contest. It will be Allan Donald anyday . Donald was fast, skillful, mean and totally focussed. Waqar no doubt is a great bowler and will go down only below Imran in the history of Pakistan cricket. But the fact remains that it was his sheer pace that he relied upon. Once he lost his pace, he was no more than just an ordinary average bowler. The record against India is ample proof to show that !

If you consider 2 series against India 10 years apart is ample proof then what you call Sachin failure in those series despite playing id dead tracks :winky: Donald was no dobt great bowler but he is more of a green track bully who played most of his career in SA,Aus & Eng pitches. He was found out in Pakistan and is not considered in same league as Waqar by neutral fans. Indian fans jealousy and bias is expected in this thread. Waqar revolutionized fast bolwing with his reverse swing & yorkers. Today when Maliinga or Gul bowls someone with toe crushing yorker, commentators refers it to that famous Waqar yorker. Sachin has scored runs againist every team and every where...avgs 40+ every where. Waqar isnt fit to tie Marshal's shoe laces....even in Pakistan Imran and Wasim were better than him. So Donald's 2 tests in Pak are an indicator of his skills and meanness.....so much for Waqar's skills as he avgs 48 againist India in 4 tests. Over their Careers againist AUS.......Donald beats Waqar by some margin.....

This isnt entirely true ... I have seen Waqar bowl in the early 90s and against the WI which was the best side in those days and on a dead track ... by god he was a site to behold. Sadly the injuries took a big toll on him and the ball tampering fiasco put a big dent on his credentials. It is such a shame that the Pakis never realize the value of playing fair and by the rules. 50 yrs from now you will find a Paki bowler under the scanner for some of the most unthinkable offense. If you want a true pro with a similar ability to take wickets then it has to Allan Donald. However my favourite bowler of all time is Curtley Ambrose. I can watch clips of him bowling over and over again. PS: Don't bother about Sir_Afridi ... this guy is a bonafide dirtbag . The fact that idiotic admins keep this guy for whatever reasons is something that we should be worried about.

With that S/R Pollock is not good enough to be compare with Waqar & Donald. Waqar is better than than both. He has better S/R and similar average but played on dead tracks most of his career. He would love to bowl on SA pitches like Donald most of his career. Only bowler who was as destructive as Waqar was Marshall.

Waqar was very poor in Australia, and not much better in SA. He was a fine bowler, but I'd have Pollock & Donald ahead of him. Please don't compare him with Marshall

unfortunately the only image I have of Malcom Marshall is when he played the Ind-WI-Aus triseries in 1991-92,I have follwed the 3 mentioned bowlers quiet a lot,so I would say Donald Waqar Pollock I think Pollock benefitted from bowling with Donald as the opposition would try and play more freely against him with Donald on the other end,so his job was relatively easier as all he had to do is bowl line and length and reap the benefits. I have seen Donald bowl some spells where every ball he bowled looked like taking a wicket much like some of Warne's spells

A)- What makes you say Waqar was faster than Donald in his prime ? Waqar's fastest delivery recorded is at 153 kph. If you are assuming on what people say, in that case you should also consider the fact that Javagal Srinath was way faster than Waqar in his prime since Sri was recorded at 157kph in South Africa in 96 and again at 149.6 in England in 99 and 143.5 in South Africa in 2003 WC. The last 2 speeds mentioned were after his shoulder injury . See how the debate turns ? B) Waqar after losing pace was still legend ? Yeah right...It was so evident when he wouldnt even be considered a 1st change by Akram and he would be so pathetic that often he would have had to be taken out of the attack. C) Yes, Waqar's reverse swing and yorkers are a thing of folklore. No doubt !Ball tampering, weed smoking are also a part of the folklore, though ! Sadly ! How does Sachin come here ?
