As a bowler you have to increase your skill and wilyness. Zaheer operates mostly at 135k. But he is excellent at setting up a batsman. With Ishant it is pretty erratic. Well that is what I was getting at when talking to the other guy about Ishant v Broad. I doubt Ishant will bowl quicker at 26 and he will remain fast medium. It's all about taking wickets and we have PK as a 3rd seamer perhaps, but need to sort out the other 2 seamer slots. I hope ashwin/ojha get a run in the test side.
rkt.india Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I can judge any bowlers pace just by watching. Its not only bowler, but also look at the batsman and you will know at which pace a bowler is bowling. It is an assessment, an idea, not exact.

rkt.india Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Its not tough to judge the pace..Look at ball and then batsman, you will do good in judging the approx pace of a bowler. Like in recent aus-sl series, speed guns were showng slower speeds at most times, i knew bowlers were bowling faster than guns showed.

Every bowler bowls quicker at 26 than 20 ,you increase you average speed may be not top speed,ishant in australian test series was 130-140 km and in a spell in adelaide 140+ in odis he was 150.ishant has increased his average speed in eng he was 136-144 in first 90 overs .zak when he is fit is quicker now than he ever was in tests .ishant will ony get quicker till 24 .if you look at him he has lot to build up. Regarding kumar he will be useless in india and subcontinent ,he should be picked for sa,nz,eng

Has Mohanty Not had fantastic run up and build up to the crease? but he barely was 130K bowler, mainly in 120s. that is why comparing bowling action and run up of the bowlers is not the right thing to do. Look at Kemar Roach, he does not look like to hitting 150K if you only look at his runup and action, but when he delivers you gotta know he is bowling quick.

Watch a ball bowled by Shaun Tait at 97 mph at 0:47 in this video and it barely carried to the keeper. Explain why ball bowled at 97 mph, not even very full, from a tall bowler like Tait and keeper takes it at his shins. I was not at the Leicester, but I don't see any any green tinge in video. This is traditionally a slow track and this is end of the season. Even South African pitches were not helping fast bowlers in IPL2 at the end of the season. They had turn and were helping spinners. At Leicester, wicket is helpful for spinners. Even their highest wicket takers are spinners in championship and their team's construction is like there is no good fast bowler in their team. They even do not play HF Gurney, left arm pacer, much in One day and 4-day matches who is their highest wicket taker in T20 cricket.
