post 2002 dravid mostly used to bat at no 4/5 isnt it?
ya after 2002 he was juggling between 4 or 5. But during the peak of his career he used to come in at number 3.

Dravid in that form' date=' in England - I see it as a good call[/quote'] Laxman plays exceptionally well in Australia n Westindies in Tests. Does that mean we play him in ODIs there

lol rd used to bat at no 5 for india in odis...very rarely he used to play one down...and the stats u have mentioned there is very similar to gangulys stats so according to you ganguly is not a good odi batsman as well?
Firstly I was not a great fan of Ganguly specially after 2005 wen he became a defensive. Yet Ganguly had better strike rate, average, was an opener, better captain, good parttime bowler so that made him better player than Dravid in ODis

Yep coming at one down with average less than 40 n a strike of barely 71. Nothing to be proud off.
That's why too much stats guru and cricinfo is bad for health. He had a role to play and played it very well. His SR can be low and he can still be effective, especially when we get good starts from guys like SRT/Sehwag/Ganguly and you need someone to see us safely through. He can also come in late and accelerate when we have just a few overs left. He has also come in when we have had good starts and helped keep the momentum going to get us to a decent total. He is primarily a test player who played a pretty good role in the ODI team. Plus, he kept later in his career in ODIs, opening up another slot for a bowler/batsman.

For me there is no difference between 130 allot in 24 overs than 142 alloutin 49. I rather play with matchwinning players n agreesive attitude than this defensive mindset. that's why I believe our WCup squad was our bestest squad ever as we had 10 matchwinning players (sorry Nehra was !t) in our team
Then why good batsmen in the middle overs don't play with the same pace. Rather they look for building their inning and saving wickets for the slog overs. And I don't think Dravid would be that slow. Its a big risk playing all newbies in the middle order.

Indians struggled in the tests, and only dravid managed to last long. Dravid's selection is not bad at all considering he will be retiring from odis after this series.

Laxman has just 2000 odi runs:winky:anyways if vvs does well in aus there is no problem in playing him.... its the runs that matter

you steroid rabbit' date=' sehwag, ghambir, yuvi, khan all match winners are injured... plz name your match winners in in place of them.. kthx[/quote'] U effing little rat, u r the who needs steroid. Effing kanjoos gujju, stop smelling doodh dahi, it's time u actually start drinking it. Regarding matchwinners, I wud rather have sTiway, MTiwary or Y Pathan ahead of Dravid

Dravid shouldn't have been picked imo' date=' not that he wont do a good job but that he isn't a solution for India's debacle and he knew it too so he said he'll be retiring after this series, but rahul you're being quite unfair on Dravid. He has played some real good knocks in ODI's. He always anchored while India had many other hitters.[/quote'] Understand ur point bro n nice way of putting it. But then again India was never a great Odi team wen Dravid used to be in the team. So what's the use of using that same old mediocre strategy

Dude, Dravid's stats are nowhere as bad as you make them out to be. Here is the list of batsman who have scored the most runs in positions 3,4 and 5. The standout stats are only for Sir Viv. Kallis,Inzi, Azhar's strike rates are quite comparable to RDs. Though I agree that younger blood should be tried out, so many of our players are injured that already lot of new players will get their chance. And someone needs to play the role of an anchor which dravid can very well do. ADoGe.png
If u notice ur list, not only he had the worst strike rate of all, he also had almost the worst average. So can't compare Dravid with those greats in Odis

How bou u put ur foot where your mouth is. If u win, I will put anything in my avatar whatever u say. If u loose, u put 'R Jadeja n Dravid Suck' in ur avatar?

Did you miss Miandad's SR :hmmm:
Miandad played in n different era where 220 was considered a good target n having low 70s strike rate was a norm. but then again I m not a fan of Miamdad either

..this time around, we need some experience since our"youngstars" are battling

Dravid made 10,000+ runs in ODIs and he is a legend in his own right even in ODIs though he is not known for playing swashbuckling innings. Anyway, this is going to be his last series in ODIs/T20s and he will be useful in this series as we dont have Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj and he has the right technique for Eng conditions as the ball swings, seams and bounces more and he can also guide the youngsters. Very good move IMO by the selectors. Too much whining by OP for nothing.
