Cuz of him, we will have to drop a young talent and bare those Dravidsique innnings... here are some of future innings I am predicting for Dravid in this ODI and T20 series in England.... 20(39), 7(21), 32(58), 29(52) and 41(79) innings coming in 1 down and wasting PP play overs..Will make sure we would loose atleast 2 matches cuz of him.. Will bump this thread in after every ODI innings of his... Its strange how people are jumping on Dravids bandwagon after recent WI and England series.. He was purely pathetic and was selected only cuz of his name for past 3 years... Failed in Southafrica, failed in Newzealand, failed in Australia yet we kept him...

I thought it was an insurance policy after watching how our batsmen were performing in the tests. If the english decided to produce sportier tracks (highly unlikely), we might face another whitewash. With Gambhir not fit, it makes even more sense to have an accumulator in the squad. If we're not looking at consistent 300+ scores, RD is an asset considering his form.

We should definitely look to score 300 consistently, not that we must try and slog away from ball 1, but we need an attacking mindset rather than a mindset that says "Let us see the new ball off" because with the new ball, comes the license to go over the top sometimes with the powerplays on. Obviously there will not be 90 balls in the corridor of uncertainty, you will get some looseners and we must make sure we capitalise on every opportunity we get. We need at least 75 runs in the first 15 overs if not more. Our bowling attack is such that even 300 + scores can look like a mere par score for the opposition the form that we are in :(

Not that I agree with the selectors' move, but it was an insurance policy. I think once upon a time selectors recalled Mohinder Amarnath (considered slow S/R batsman) for ODIs against West Indies since selectors, back then, worried we wont bat out 50 overs. This is similar where selectors are worried India wont bat out 50 overs without RD in the ODI squad. But I think even RD did not want to be part of the ODI squad anyway and was mighty surprised.

In the England/Lanka odi series the hosts never made 300 while SL defended it comfortably in the only game they reached that score. These are not the patta wickets where 400 is achievable and while chasing less than run a ball, i wouldn't mind Dravid in his current form. Err, i was supporting RD's inclusion in the squad and not looking for benchmarks to prove his worth :hmmmm2:

Anyways I respect Dravid and I never said that it was a poor decision to recall him. He is definitely gonna play well but the question in my mind is - Will he play the role of sheet anchor and bottle one end up - which is his normal style of play or will he trust the young guns and play lot more freely. If he doesn't than others will try and be aggressive, which might not be the ideal thing for us with an inexperienced middle and lower middle order exposed to English conditions. I think Dravid must back his form and play freely as he did in Tests rather than looking to bottle one end and not give hi wicket away. I do believe we will win this series if he plays well. He is still "The Wall of Indian Cricket" :isalute:
