Tamilnadu Political parties setting a dangerous precedent

The resolution passed by the Tamilnadu assembly regarding the death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi's killers is a farce. Morever it sets a dangerous precedent for state governments to play politics by defending criminals and portraying them as martyrs and victims. I am not an expert on law, but does the legislative even have powers to dictate terms on an issue which has already been debated and decided by both the judiciary and the president? On what grounds is the resolution valid?

Jammu and kashmir is following the precedent to pass a resolution to stall Afzal Guru's death sentense. Now what? I wouldn't be suprised if Pakistan govt pass a resolution to stall Kasab's death sentense with full support of JnK govt.

hasnt President alrady denied the mercy for Rajiv Gandhi killers. So WTF tamil high court asking for reconsideration. Its been long long time now, even Rajiv Gandhi's incarcanation must be dying soon or dead already....The average life expentancy of a dog is 12 to 15 years :--D

It is not a binding resolution but I feel its irresponsible of political parties to pass such a resolution after both the judiciary and president have already rejected the mercy plea. Its a needless measure of expressing solidarity with terrorists who have assassinated a sitting prime minister of the country.

:hysterical::hysterical: you haters need to develop a sense of humor, if not the best way to retort. Say hello to Ashok Saraf and maybe he will give you some tips to have a laugh every now and then. And let Modi have a day of reincarnation :hehe:

People have conveniently forgotten that there were others who also died in that attack including few policemen. From what Manishankar Iyer was saying, I gathered that Gandhi's are ok with the convicted terrorists not being hanged but how can they decide for other 30 odd families who lost their loved ones ? Its all cheap politics

Just wondering, why exactly is Nalini spared in all of this. I mean, I understand she is a woman and a mother, but it is ironic that the person on the spot of murder is spared and conspirators are executed.
