ganeshran Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 The resolution passed by the Tamilnadu assembly regarding the death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi's killers is a farce. Morever it sets a dangerous precedent for state governments to play politics by defending criminals and portraying them as martyrs and victims. I am not an expert on law, but does the legislative even have powers to dictate terms on an issue which has already been debated and decided by both the judiciary and the president? On what grounds is the resolution valid?

Its been long long time now, even Rajiv Gandhi's incarcanation must be dying soon or dead already....The average life expentancy of a dog is 12 to 15 years :--D

ganeshran Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 It is not a binding resolution but I feel its irresponsible of political parties to pass such a resolution after both the judiciary and president have already rejected the mercy plea. Its a needless measure of expressing solidarity with terrorists who have assassinated a sitting prime minister of the country.

From what Manishankar Iyer was saying, I gathered that Gandhi's are ok with the convicted terrorists not being hanged but how can they decide for other 30 odd families who lost their loved ones ? Its all cheap politics
