Its not a name, its a figure of speech common in england to describe someone unathletic, one would think the use of the word donkey has been used in perfect context by Nasser however he severely underestimated the indians ability to get offended by anything.

well dude, you got to be careful when on national TV. Nothing personal, but when it comes to being common, what dean jones said was common across the world. right. does not justify it. nasser has to apologise. An indian tv sports anchor called Shoab akhtar in a proverb.."kutte ki dum..."..he lost his job and had to apologise. And that is such a common proverb in India

Calling a bearded muslim a terrorist cannot be compared with calling a terrible fielder a donkey. Dean Jones was being a typical middle aged ignorant racist, Nasser is just doing his job.

I know all about the quest to become fair and lovely brah. When white people visit India its like Jurassic park just see everyone surround the mythical creatures.
Every country has it's retards and the ones in our country are obsessed with becoming fair, even the fair actors and actresses are worshipped and are the most popular :((

Well, just like it's common in England as you mentioned, it's not considered a good remark for anyone in India. It's offensive here. People will react in same way as they see it. No point in complaining about some of the reactions.

The comments were made on sky yes? Well if so then I dont see the issue, the audience for Sky is english people who will fully understand the context the phrase is being used, Nasser shouldnt have to get out his cultural sensitivity handbook just to make sure its ok with the Indian audience who will be watching star sports or w/e its called.

Oh noes ... BCCI have launched an official protest with the ECB re: Donkeygate :whine:
Is this true? Truly embarrassing. Crouch and Heskey may as well take out lawsuits on the whole of England..

Emile Heskey the "original donkey" must be wondering what all the fuss is about, he has had to put up with this for 10 years and hasnt caused some kind of diplomatic incident.

Tony Adams, the greatest ever English defender to play football was called a donkey throughout his career. This really is making a mountain out of a molehill. How about instead of wasting energy on this, the BCCI employ some top physical trainers and start turning some of our donkeys into athletes. That way everyone will be happy.

BCCI idiots are just trying to divert attention from the failure of Indian team and themselves by giving so much attention to donkey comment.. and gullible Indian public falling for it.

No. Absolutely not. We lost. We accept. But we will not tolerate any *****y word against Indians. English like themselves being called Donkeys, well we dont

The BCCI needs to employ agents to kidnap anybody that utters a bad word against india.
You say this tounge in cheek, but Nasser really better watch his back if he travels to commentate next month. He might just vanish :giggle:
