J P K Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has once again rubbed the Indians the wrong way as he called some of the fielders "donkeys" during the one-off Twenty20 match between India and England on Wednesday. Sitting in the commentary box, Hussain made the controversial comment after Parthiv Patel misjudged a Kevin Pietersen catch off Munaf Patel's bowling. "I would say the difference between the two side is the fielding. England are all-round a good fielding side. I do believe that India have few...3or 4 very good fielders and one or two donkeys in the field still," Hussain said. His unwanted comment invited criticism from all corners. "It is not acceptable and no one has any right to say such things, ever for your own team. It's a gentleman game and the BCCI should send a strong letter to the International Cricket Council to avoid such things in future," Pakistan legend Zaheer Abbas told a TV channel.

No need to take it all seriously. Only way to shut him up is to improve in the ODI series. this .. Media is just making a meal out of this.

When they were discussing fielding and it was probably Harsha who said that Indian fielding is much better in T20. Then Nasser said that there are 3-4 very good fielders, but few donkeys are still there in the field. Probably he meant Munaf and co. Later they went on talking about how Munaf shouldn't be on the boundary. Better fielders should be there so that they can stop runs. Fielders like Munaf should be inside the circle as they batsman would take single anyway. I don't how common is it there to use the word donkey and whether it's appropriate or not. But I believe he didn't mean it in abusive way.

"Hussain's comment was totally uncalled for. One should adopt restraint while making observations about players. Commentators should not make such comments. We will definitely look into it," Shukla told reporters outside the Parliament. "Every player has to be respected irrespective of his performance. I don't think this comment was appropriate," he added.
