What a pathetic thread. Firstly, I am sure I mentioned this before somewhere in this forum, being a selector is not a child's play. There are many fans who seem to think it is really easy, just go to cric info and see which players have the best stats and then select him. Thereby, there is a common feeling among that "I could do better or as good as than selector XYZ" Remember there is no perfect squad, and it is not like we have some bradman's in India that has not been selected. And this bring in the use of hindsight, player X selected, plays bad, fans question his selection. We have a fairly balanced squad and it is hard to blame selectors for both batting and bowling failure. Start by blaming our own lack of professional approach( hands in pockets while fielding, a quick example)

Jimmy Amarnath to replace Yashpal as selector From calling the selectors "a bunch of jokers" to being named as the new selector, life has come a full circle for Mohinder Amarnath. The former India all-rounder will replace Yashpal Sharma in the national selection committee in the only change to the panel. The official announcement will be made on Monday when the Board of Control for Cricket in India will announce the new office bearers and appointments to the various sub committees for the year 2011-12. Barring Sharma, who completed his tenure of four years, there is no other change in the selection panel. Krishnamachari Srikkanth [ Images ] will have his term extended for another year, for his fourth and final year, while the rest of the committee including Narendra Hirwani (Central Zone), Raja Venkat (East) and Surendra Bhave (West) will also be retained. The selectors came under a lot of flak after India's disastrous showing on their tour of England [ Images ], where they were whitewashed 4-0 in the Tests, while also failing to win a single ODI match or the one-off T20 game. The selectors invited a lot of criticism after a few top players pulled out mid-way through the tour due to injuries. Amarnath featured in 69 Tests and 85 ODIs for India in a career spanning 20 years and played a key role in India's 1983 World Cup victory. Interestingly, he had once called the selectors "a bunch of jokers" after being axed from the Indian team. Amarnath will have to give up his role in the Indian Premier League [ Images ] Governing Council where he will be replaced by Karnataka's [ Images ] legendary batsman Gundappa Viswanath. Amitabh [ Images ] Chaudhary, Jharkhand Cricket president, is another new entry in the IPL Governing Council, to replace Anurag Thakur, who will become the joint secretary. The Indian Premier League will also have a new chairman in Rajiv Shukla. http://www.rediff.com/cricket/report/jimmy-amarnath-to-replace-yashpal-as-selector-harish-kotian/20110919.htm

Lets see what Jimmy can go for India cricket. He must understand that there was a time when he called the selectors a bunch on jokers. So he must make better judgement & team selection that will win games for India..& not become a joker himself

Glad to see Jimmy paaji getting involved with the national side. I hope he spends a lot of time with the youngsters in the team especially the batsmen and helps them get better technically, playing the short pitched bowling etc.

So the selection committee is retained for another year, Chairman is given extension for another year, whipping in England is swept under the carpet after saying that players will bounce back, there is no need to look into injury management system as BCCI thinks it is excellent despite 10 players dropping out of the tour injured, they don't need a medical committee, and excess cricket is not being played. So why are we fans banging our heads for Indian cricket's redemption?

What the hell!! What do those names of states from 10 to 24 mean? And why are they enlisted? What an unprofessional set up. Those who look into schedules and fix it have never played cricket!

Why did you bump the thread:nono:' date='My heart missed a beat.[/quote'] :--D We must remember this period. This is to (hopefully) mark the end of India's worst period in Test cricket subsided over by Srikkanth.
